Before we discuss more about how to plant simple hydroponics at home or yard, it's good you know first what it is hydroponic cultivation. Simply observed from the origin he said Hydroponics cultivation means a method of cultivating plants without using soil media, but utilizing water / nutritional mineral solution needed by plants and other materials as substitute for soil media containing nutrients such as coconut fiber, mineral fiber, sand, tiles / bricks, wood powder, and so forth.

Below are some advantages and reasons to strengthen your motivation to learn to plant crops by hydroponics, among others:

#Hydroponic cultivation proved to be economical compared to conventional planting on the ground because it does not need to spray water every day because the nutrient solution / medium of mineral solution used is accommodated in the container used, so we live only control.

#Hydroponic cultivation can maximize limited land because it does not require a lot of land, even plant media can be made in storied

#Hydroponic crops are proven to be environmentally friendly because they do not use pesticides or pesticides that can damage the soil, use only water 1/20 from regular plants, and reduce CO2 because it does not need to use a vehicle or a machine.

#Hydroponic plants do not damage the soil because they do not use soil media and also do not need a large area.

#Results of hydroponic plants can be eaten as a whole including roots because they are free from dirt and pests

#Can check the roots of the plant clearly periodically to control its growth

#Growth of plants faster and the quality of plant yields can be controlled To plant hydroponics does not need to depend on the season, because it can be planted at any time according to our planning.

#Planting hydroponics can reduce / conserve fertilizer use.
Hydroponic cultivation does not need much energy to work on
The environment where hydroponics grow tends to be cleaner than planting on the ground.

#Hydroponic plants rarely have problems with plant pests and diseases caused by bacteria, caterpillars and many nematode worms found in the soil

#Hydroponic growing land is more flexible, can be planted anywhere such as in a home or in a paved yard.

How to plant simple hydroponics at home

Some plants are often grown hydroponically, are green vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, lombok, tomato, bak choy, broccoli, mustard, kailan, kale, onion, strowbery, and others. The above hydroponic plants are often the top choice for vegetarians who are very concerned about the process of making food, whether there is a chemical element in it, whether there is animal killing, also related to environmental conservation and reforestation efforts.

How to Plant Hydroponics Vegetables..

There are two main techniques in hydroponic cultivation.

1. Hydroponic planting techniques use nutrient solution
2. Hydroponic planting technique using replacement media

The fundamental difference between the two techniques above is as follows:

In the first technique, we do not need hard-growing media as a place of root growth, but simply use the nutrient / water solution medium. The method using the solution does not require hard media for root growth, just enough with nutrient minerals. Examples of ways in commonly used solution techniques are static solution techniques and flow solution techniques. As for the second technique, we use substitution media to replace the role of soil as a place of root plant growth. In this case we can utilize the coconut fiber, akr / fern, sand, broken bricks / tile, wood powder, and so forth.
In this post we will not discuss both because it will make this post too long and definitely make you tired to read it. then, we will only discuss the first technique that is how to plant hydroponics using water / solution media.

How to Plant Hydroponics with Media A

1. Technique of Static Solution Static solution technique means water / nutrient solution we do not need to flow. This technique includes the most ancient techniques that have been practiced by our ancestors. In hieroponic planting techniques of static solution, plants are sown on certain media such as plastic buckets, basins, cement tanks, or tanks. Try to select a medium that is dark or opaque. This is intended to avoid the growth of moss in the container bath / container. Even if there is a clear / transparent container, please pack first using black plastic or aluminum foil that is not opaque. Since the water / nutrient solution is not drained, the altitude of the solution is kept always as low as possible so that the roots of the plant are above the solution, and thus the plant gets enough oxygen. To produce oxygen bubbles in solution, can use an aquarium pump. Solutions can be changed regularly, eg every week, or when the solution falls below a certain height, it can be replenished with water or a new nutrient solution.

2. Flow Solution Technique Flow Solution Technique is a hydroponic cultivation method which is carried out by continuously draining nutrient solution from large tank through plant roots. This technique is easier to adjust because the temperature and nutrient solution can be regulated from large tanks that can be used for large scale hydroponics plants. One of the most widely used techniques in the technique of hydroponic cultivation of Flow solution is a nutrient film technique or commonly referred to as the 'NFT hydroponics technique'. The NFT hydroponics technique uses an artificial trench made of thin, stainless metal strips, and plants seeded in the trench. Around the ditch channel is drained nutritious mineral water so that around the plant will form a thin layer used as plant food. The trenches are made with very thin water streams so that they pass through the roots and cause a layer of nutrients around the roots and there is enough oxygen for the plants.

Those are two ways to grow hydroponics with water / nutrient solution. Well, as I promised above, now we will learn how to plant simple hydroponics at home using materials and tools potluck.

1. Plant Hydroponics Wick system.

The word 'wick' if not wrong means the axis. Then the wick system is usually called the axis system. This hydroponics system uses the axis that is attached to the media / potted plants that function to drain the nutrient solution from the bottom (container) to the top (plant roots). Rockwool is a medium that absorbs nutrients water that flannel, so the roots of young plants will absorb it from rockwool. The larger, the roots of the plant will come out of rockwool and crawl through the flannel to the nutrient solution at the bottom and suck it themselves. This system is the easiest, and cheapest, and very suitable for the learning phase, especially for beginners or indoor hobbyist.

Materials needed :

1. Used bottle size of 600 ml

2. Cropping media: Rockwool recommended (can buy at farm shop or online) Alternatively, it can be replaced with dacron, used foam, cotton wool, or rolled flannel.

3. Axis: Can use a stove axis / flannel / fabric that absorbs water

How To Make Hydroponics Simple Cropping Media

1. Cut the mineral water bottle into 2 parts

2. Hole the top of the neck of the bottle on both sides with a heated solder or nail.

3. Put the fluted axis / flannel lengthwise through the two holes

4. Place upside down the bottle to the bottom of the bottle.

5. A simple hydroponic planting medium is ready for use

The next step is to prepare the seeds of the plants we will plant. For the exercise I recommend hydroponic vegetable crops that are easy to grow like mustard greens or lettuce. Currently, seeds / seedlings of many plants are sold online. Please googling with the keyword 'seeds of hydroponic plants'. If you buy online, buy also rockwool and hydroponics fertilizer.

How to Seed Hydroponic Seeds Using Rockwool

How to Seed Hydroponic Seeds Using Rockwool

1. Cut rockwool with size 2.5 x 2.5. Wet the rockwool with water in a way sprinkled or sprayed small to rockwool not too wet / flooded water. Place on tray or used plastic box.

2. Hole the center of each rockwool with a stick / toothpick. Do not make the hole too deep, just about 2 mm only. Put the seed plant into the hole that has been made on top of rockwool. Cover the container with a black plastic bag and place it in a shady or dark place.

3. Generally for vegetables such as mustard and lettuce, in 1-2 days already sprout / broken seed. The sign of sprout is with the appearance of a root candidate (white and white) and a candidate leaf poking.

4. If there is a broken seed, immediately dry the container containing the seeds in the morning sun until noon. If the sun has been blazing, just keep in a bright place and do not need to be closed again by black plastic.

 5. Too late to introduce in sunlight can result in etiolation. Do it every day. Add or spray water to keep rockwool moist and moist if it feels the media is dry.

6. Characteristics of seeds that are ready to plant is already growing true leaves. At this time the plant is ready to move to the hydroponic medium to obtain additional nutrients in addition to water and sunlight.

How to Transfer Seeds to Hydroponics Planting Media

Prepare bottles that have been made before. Fill the bottom of the bottle with nutrient solution. Move rockwool containing the four-leafed plant to the inside of the top bottle already filled with flannel. Pair the two parts of the bottle. Done.

Treatment of Hydroponics Plants

As plants grow larger, nutritional needs also increase. Therefore at least once a week of nutrient solution should be added. If at the beginning of the mixture of nutrients is; 5ml + 5ml + 1 lt. The second week increases to 6ml + 6ml + 1lt. so on until the plants are ready to harvest. Do not let the nutrient solution in the bottom bottle is empty because it will cause the plants to die of drought. Bottles containing nutrient solutions are susceptible to moss exposure to sunlight. Therefore, if you want, coat the bottom bottle with dark paper. Or paint in black. But, because I use these bottles without coating, usually at the turn of nutrition, I clean the moss that sticks to clean again. Alternatively, besides using mineral water bottles, in fact we can also use a basin or other plastic places. Place / medium puts rockwool containing plants can use small pots or used glass of mineral water perforated by the bottom end and fitted with flannel axis / cloth. To close the basin / plastic container can use styrofoam perforated so that the pots will hang and not touch the water. in this way, we can put some potted plants at once.
See you soon follow me @dianaummuzikra hopefully useful for us all thanks
