GeoPixels - like WPlace, but nsfw-friendly

Got banned or suspended on WPlace for 'other' or 'inappropriate content' for drawing something so absolutely over the line like a piece of underwear? [you need to click '+' to expand hidden Realistic-Rise466's comment to see Mehmet595's pasted image]

Well - here comes geopixels.net - NSFW approved, IIRC furry too :P

This post is no ad. I just genuinely like GeoPixels more, and I'm not affiliated with them in any way :) And no, I was not banned on WPlace for drawing shirtless Sunraku. Yet. :D

First, some numbers

GeoPixels have a bit different energy and palette model, and different naming, so it's easy to confuse things at first if you use them both.

Similar to WPlace, you draw pixels on the map. You have some pool of points (geopix: 'energy', WPlace: 'paint charges') that regenerate over time up to some limit, and for drawing you get some other points (geopix: 'pixels', wplace: 'droplets') you can spend on upgrades. I will call them "drawing" (and "limit") and "cash" instead.

wplacegeopix
drawing regen+1 drawing / 30s+1 drawing / 30s
cash for drawing1 cash for 1 drawn1 cash for 5 drawn

It looks worse at first, but just compare it with upgrade costs:

wplacegeopix
permanent limit upgrade: +550050
permanent regen upgrade: -1s-500
instant refill drawing: 60100030
add new color to palette2000100

Do some math excercises if you do not feel the difference already :)

In terms of drawing power pool and regen time - both sites use 30s timer - and upgrading the pool size on GeoPixels is obviously cheaper - but only GeoPixels also allows you to improve the regen rate, down to 15s, at which point your drawing power replenishes twice as fast as in WPlace. 2x more pixels drawn per day also means earning 2x more cash points for upgrades.

Just like WPlace, GeoPixels also has levels that you gain every X pixels drawn - and here gaining a level earns you some extra cash points - but in contrast to WPlace, you DO NOT get +2 drawing limit at each level. On GeoPixels you must buy limit extensions by cash points.

Oh, and there are no 'flags' which give % bonus drawing points when spend in the area flag relates to. But seriously, at "20 drawing for 10 cash", it's already so MUCH cheaper than WPlace's "30 for 500" pack.

Colors

On both sites you get some starting colors for free. On WPlace you get some 32 predefined colors for free, and you can unlock another 32 predefined colors for 2000 cash each. After you buy them all - you just have 'all the colors' from predefined palette and that's it. And one of the colors is 'transpartent', so actually you have only 63.

On GeoPixels - you get less starting colors. To be honest, I do not remember how many - but you can add ANY ##rgb color you want for 100 cash points. That's 500 pixels drawn. 4x less than on WPlace. And I think there's no limit on how many colors you can have. At least I have not reached it yet.

If upgrade prices didn't feel much - availability of custom colors is a real game changer. I can't stress how often predefined palette on WPlace was lacking "just that one middle-tone color" I needed :)

Rules and moderation

NSFW is OK, but that does not mean everything is OK. Read the rules on the welcome page. You can get suspended or banned. I won't cite them since that was already updated a bit over last few weeks - so clearly they polish the wording - but the rules seem much more reasonable than on WPlace.

Re:moderators, to be honest, I can't say anything. I've not interacted with them yet. But I have not seen any artwork damaged or erased either.

Tools

SkirkMarble or its ancestor BlueMarble do not work (yet?) with GeoPixels. But worry not, GeoPixels has simple templating/ghosting tool already built-in. It doesn't allow you to manage multiple templates like SkirkMarble, it only supports one at time, but that's often enough.

It also has some simple color-converter, which has an option to take into consideration your current custom palette. Nice!

And yes, since palette on GeoPixels is fully configurable (you get whatever colors you bought) - a typical existing WPlace color-converter tool are often not enough. While on GeoPixels you can specifically buy the same colors as in WPlace to make template at least one-way-compatible - I suggest you to try out https://yawcc.z1x.us/ - that's an awesome tool, with many handy options, and it recently got an update for, yes, custom palettes! Dump your colorset from GP to a GPL file (really simple file format), load it in yawcc. Or pick a pre-made custom palette from https://lospec.com/palette-list

Alright, I think I wrote too much already. Have FUN :D
