I am a real hunter-gatherer, take home everything I find, I have a lot of mammoth teeth, but I did not have a piece of tusk yet.
so i went to spijck ( little town in the netherlands ) where I found a lot of agate, petrified wood, tooth and bone of pig and deer and much more in the last 7 years at the sandpit nearby the town, and I was extremely lucky...
at the big stone ejector, I found this beauty.... OMG....
the first thing I did was hide it in my car....!
and after two hours of searching for more gems ( some agates and more )
I went home!! woohoo..!! the big treasure is mine
to preserve I gave it a long bath with wood glue and water, half in it and then let it dry for an hour and back in, and that 4 times, so that the entire tusk was soaked with wood glue.
the outside is dry, inside still very wet, the glue has to dry but there is a chance that the tooth will split during drying, so t-rips around it and let it dry for a week ...! this is how I also preserve my mammoth molars.
very happy with my find, i hope you all enjoyed my post... more to come...
