Winter Or Summer Is Coming

Depending on where you live, it won't be long before winter or summer is here.

Some of you can enjoy watching your plants and crops grow bigger every day, others - like me - are still trying to get the garden ready for the harsh conditions winter can bring, and/or creating and indoor garden.

This SteemIt Community Challenge allows you to share your monthly (indoor) garden/balcony updates with your fellow Steemians.

This is the seventh edition already.

You can use the links below to check out the previous editions:

🌺 SteemIt Community Garden Journal Early June

Some Of Our Previous Contributors.

The participants' base is shifting, following the seasons in the different parts of the world. Last edition, we could enjoy the garden updates of

@sustainablelivin, @frejafri, @freedomwing, @exator, @aurodivys, @celinavisaez, @phoenixwren, @wildwanderer, @abitcoinskeptic, @porters, @buckaroo, @lynncoyle1 and @crazymum

I’d like to thank them all for joining, and I'd like to invite them to post a new update. I would also like to invite everyone else who is growing plants or crops - indoors or outdoors - to join and allow us to see what you've got going on.

If you haven’t joined before, feel free to start now. It’s never too late to show your fellow gardeners what's going on in your (indoor) garden/on your farm or balcony.

Show us how your plants, herbs, flowers, succulents or vegetables are doing. Share what you’ve been doing in your garden, on your farm or on your balcony. Don't forget to let us know if you are dealing with things like fungus, caterpillars, aphids, and - even more important - hów you’re dealing with those.

In short, tell us the story of your garden.

🏆 The Rewards

Your entry posts will receive a 100% upvote from my account. The price of Steem is even lower than last time, so the upvote will not be as large as before. But look at it like this: when the price of Steem will go up again, that upvote will be worth more again.

Just like in the previous edition, I'll be setting up a @steem-bounty in the comments section. Everyone who posts a valid entry will get a share of that bounty.

🏆 The Winners

Prize distribution has changed a little bit.

I’ll reward the top 2 posts with a 3 SBD prize, because the Steem price is too low.

I’ll also reward 2 randomly chosen resteemers with an @incinboost share.

this post.
Basically, you can compare the system with SteemBasicIncome. The big difference is that you get back more for what you put in. In short: it's more profitable and shares are processed faster. If you haven't heard of @incinboost yet, you can read

Prizes will be distributed once I get the winners post up, which will be after this post has reached payout. be sure to submit your entry before that time.

Grab That Camera

What are you waiting for? Grab that camera and go shoot some amazing pics of your garden, your balcony or even your indoor plants. My own garden is as good as empty, and I'm in need to see some beautiful greenery. ;0)

The problem I face in my garden is mainly of Ants and a little of pests as well but I am not able to find solutions. Please do give me solutions if you know any on how to remove those stuff and make my plant healthier in terms of flower and fruit production. https://steemit.com/gardenjournal2018/@n1hal/my-lovely-passion-fruit-plant

Thanks @frejafri. Awesome update, just like the previous one. Are you sure you're living in Europe, lol?

Thank you! It's been an extraordinary autumn for sure! - I'm sure it will look a bit different when I move to Denmark!

Glad to see you've joined us again, @riverflows. I always love to see/read your updates

November gardening is still going strong. Actually, have to finish harvesting my cabbage tomorrow. Really hope there is enough time to make it before the deadline. Even if there isn't I'll still share the link, lol. Like the new pic by the way.

Here is the blog: https://steemit.com/gardenjournal2018/@abitcoinskeptic/november-garden-update-harvesting-cabbage-for-kimchi

I just planted some new plants in the front. Going for ones we can't kill as easy but i will do a post to share it.

That's always a good choice: plants that can take something. I need to make that choice when it comes to chosing plants to keep in our living room. For some reason, I can't keep them alive. Because of that, a friend of mine gave us some succulents as a gift 2 yers ago. They are low-maintenance, so the chance that they would survive in our living room was pretty big... she thought. I think they lasted for 3 months. Sometimes I forgot to water them for weeks, and some times I gave them.plenty of water (because I forgot before) and then it appeard my girlfriend had done the same a day earlier. The poor plants didn't survive... :0(

Okay so here is my post https://steemit.com/gardenjournal2018/@stever82/steemit-community-garden-journal-challenge-7-my-garden-af3eeeb6c2b5a and I also gave this a resteem sorry forgot to do that before. Thanks

I just took the pictures of the garden, since this morning there were signs of the first frost, so the last big harvest today! So a post will be up very soon :)

Ouch.. how did I miss the last one? DM me next time! I'll get out with my camera today!!! Awesome. I love how you say SUMMER IS COMING, recall when you started this and I grouched you'd forgotten the southern hemisphere? I love this challenge. It's one of my favourites. It's how I first started seeing other gardeners on Steeemit... @porters, did I meet you this way?? And I planted @cucamelons because of you! My garden is a bit messy at moment.. weeds coming out everywhere... but if I roll my sleeves up today I should get some serious work done.

Posted using Partiko Android

Hey! I think this may have been where we first connected, with our shared love of gardening! I totally remembered you complaining about the southern hemisphere being forgotten and it was a reminder to me that it was not summer every where in the world. I love seeing all the different gardens around the world and having a record (journal) of my own garden! Great challenge @simplymike!

Oh yes we TOTALLY did!!! I remember, and I was only thinking about that when I put this post together!!! xx

Lol. You are right when you day I didn't think of the Southern Hemisphere when I created the first two or three challenges. It was ony because of the comments and the updates from people that I realized after a while. Not that I didn't know about it, I was just not used to having to deal which such a worldwide audience. Before SteemIt, I had a gardening blog in Dutch that did pretty good. But since Dutch is only spoken in two countries that are next to each other, I never came across people who lived on the other side of the world :0)

I still consider this challenge one of the best SteemIt ideas I ever had (next to the Appreciation contest). I've met so many people through these challenges, and other people's updates often picked me up when I was down. There is something very therapeutic about gardening, even when you are only watching photos from other people's gardens :0)

Yes I agree and I like the fact that it has been going all of this time. And people are genuinely passionate about their gardens even if it might not be your style. And you can learn a lot from people's projects comma which are real life projects as well. I love the global connectedness of steemit xx

Hope I will participate in this contest.

I hope so too. The more entries, the better.
Take a small SM break and get up a post ;0)

Very cool! I love gardening. Even when I was living in a tiny apartment I was growing little things in pots on every available windowsill! I'm the one who is looked at strange in this country (USA) when I comment on how laws should be replaced with edible gardens ;)

As soon as winter is ending I will start posting my progress on my garden :)

#steemitbloggers

Cool!
And I completely support the idea that lawns should be replaced by edible gardens. Even if people don't like gardening: there are so many people who do like it, but don't have one.
It would be a great community project!

Thanks for the support, @starjewel :0)

Can't wait to see all those wonderful garden!
Resteemed.

Me neither. Especially since my own garden is as good as empty and prepared for winter :0)

So should I say winter sucks? :D

Not really. Winter is for seed shopping, and in a month or so, I will already start sowin again in my propagator inside

Posted using Partiko Android

That's good to know. Another month or two you gonna be busy again.

I truely hope my back will allow me to do so. I missed one season, I really don't want to miss another one...

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh dear, how's the progress of your back btw? Still need to lye down often?

Maybe I participate one day, but for now, I just enjoy consuming the content. :-)

Glad to hear you enjoy reading other people's updates. That was part of the idea :0)

My garden is sweped clean, so it would be hard ti participate, only pics I can share are from the plants in my basement waiting for the summer.

Same here. All I have left are some Brussels sprout and garlic, not really worth sharing, lol

#$%!$#%!#%$

Did I miss another month of this! I didn't even plant those bulbs. Unless my wife did it, I will just have to tell the little guys that they were planted last month and hope they don't mind!

Lol. You're never going to grow flowers if you don't plant those bulbs soon. I remember asking if it were tulips, but I can't recall your answer, so I'm still curious :0)

Posted using Partiko Android

IMG_20181102_091650.jpg

It is a bit of a mix! Some tulips and other stuff... I should check to see if my wife did it already.. Otherwise, it is tomorrow's job!

And...? Are they in the ground yet? Lol

Posted using Partiko Android

Crap! I'm texting my wife now!

Lol! I bet those bulbs will still be lying there in February, hahaha...

Posted using Partiko Android

Yup... My wife said to just leave them for next year..

This is awesome! I love seeing into other people's gardens :) What a fun way to take the steemit gardeners on a garden tour :)

Glad to hear you like the idea. I hope you will enjoy the posts :0)
