How I start seeds indoors for a quicker harvest. Suburban Homestead: My jorney towards sustainability

Hi, I'm Siloé. I've been documenting my own journey towards self-sufficiency in a series I call Suburban Homestead. I've just discovered Steemit and am excited to share my experiences here. In this first episode I show how I start seeds during winter indoors using inexpensive equipment. This allows me to jump start the growing season, thus producing more of my own food for a longer period of the year. I hope you get inspired to start gardening too. It refreshes your mind and provides free food. (And who doesn't want that!)

I grew up in São Paulo, Brazil, but I've always wanted to be around plants. I hope to share that love for the vegetable kingdom with you.

I too start my plants inside as our growing season is fairly short here in my state of Minnesota. I love botany and all the different varieties of fruits, veggies, and flowers the world has to offer. Keep steemin!

Thanks! I suppose that in Minnesota, starting indoors is a must!

Welcome to Steemit @siloe! I'm really looking forward to reading about your homesteading adventures. We produce a pretty large amount of our own food, and I am always excited to see how other people produce theirs. Happy Steeming!! 😊

Thank you!

Excellent stuff you got going on. I love reading about homesteading and self reliance here. I am asoiring to go off grid my self some day.

I do look forward and hope to get some good tips from you. Followed.

Thank you, although I'm hardly off grid :-) (but one day....)

Welcome to Steemit Siloe! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do! :-)

Hi Siloé, I'm excited to see how your garden progresses. I too am a green thumb. I love to watch things growing. All the stages of life for a plant. Being raised on a farm in the mid-west when I was young, it was a way of life for me. Then as an adult moving away and to the city. I began urban gardening, and have grown a lot of things in containers etc. It is as if I were watching my children as they mature and create something from their own. Love it. Best of for your season!

Thanks Friend. I hope you enjoy the series. I cannot see myself not growing food in some kind. Containers in the city are very effective, but to tell the truth, there is nothing quite like growing in ground. With all of its challenges. Anyhow, I'm glad I've found steemit. So far I'm pleasantly surprised by the community here.
