This was unplanned, but it sure works well!
Recently, I began planting garden seeds again. Sometimes I've been known to just grab whatever is lying around, but this time I found a really good tool!
CHECK THIS OUT!
Since I carry tire repair kits in my vehicle, and since we use them pretty often, I've got some of these extra tools lying around.
Not only are they ergonomic and compact, they work really well! No matter what depth the seed needs to be planted at, or what size the seed is, these seem to do the job. I haven't used these prior to this season, but I've used them both in my actual garden and the seed trays, and the results were certainly satisfactory.
I know that a variety of tools have been designed for this purpose, but sometimes other things work too. I've used sticks often enough in times past too. Have you ever used something interesting to plant seeds? Did it work out? Do you think you may try some of these for planting seeds in the future?
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Hey buddy... gettin in touch with your old camera. Take a look and give me some feedback please @papa-pepper
Cool, I'll check it!
Looks that you and a few others like it :) Thanks @papa-pepper
I want to see the video but limited data on my phone anyway enjoy your farm bro. Godbless
from the small picture, I though you try to do 'wolverine' LOL
LOL - That would work for seeds too!
I am a firm believer in repurposing tools for other jobs. This looks perfect. Why didn't I think of this?
methinks those thangs weren't originally intended to be used to plant seeds. One looks like it might have something to do with threading leather. What ARE the other ones?
(and no...didn't listen to the video...hearing problems)
Fixing flat tires~
tubeless...
ah...i should have known that.
hahahaha @ hearing problems. I think the ones for leather are quite smaller, so the thread can go through, well, maybe they made a bigger one though, but haven't seen this before.
ear infection..
I'm so sorry, really. How are you holding up sir?
I'm over the pneumonia...the ear infection is getting better.
thank for asking.
It will get better. i wish you strength and recovery.
Oh I definitely have.
I've used a shovel, when we were kids. Ripped open a big pile of earth. And my dad has used a screw driver before.( If only I'd been on steemit then. )
So what you got there is definitely better Sir.
Multipurpose hahaha. I most of the time just dig the ground with hand trowel and stick the seed in, then cover. Never seen this before though, but it's doing the job, not damaging the seeds, so, perfect.
We've used ballpoint pens that have stopped working, a thin busted chisel, a metal punch, small metal sticks, broken handles from rakes and such for planting bigger plants, and that's all I can think of off the top of my head. -Tilly
I've used a few of those too, especially pens!
This is serious
Make use of what you have to get what you want
For some reason men are always thinking there has to be an easier way to do this. Many great inventions come from this as do improvisations. Great idea!
Papa 🌶 this is a bit funny, don't you use hoe and cut-grass for farming .this is what we are used to and not those ones that looks like mechanic /carpenter tools. I can equally lean you this one if you don't mind. Lolzzz
For larger seeds and transplants the broken handle of a spade that has been sharpened is very useful, the handle on top allows a better grip for penetrating the ground if needed.
Originally I used a pocket knife to whittle the broken end, but now I have a linishing belt on the bench grinder it takes very little time and does a better job.
These tools seem to be very practical, I have always sown to the old school with a pointed blade.
congratulations for the great job you are doing your fifth
I wish you a beautiful Easter dear friend @ papa-pepper
I will one day try it too and see the better between it and the stick I use.
Thanks for sharing
You are always acknowledged for this
That's a great idea, wish I'd thought of it myself, thanks for sharing the tip though for those of us that hadn't thought of it before. :D
God bless you and the pepper clan. :D Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D
this is good, you always prepare something, if later we need then we are not confused to look for it, this is good work @papa-pepper.
@papa-pepper this same equipment despite it been use to plant. Do u also know you can use it in your farm. When your ruminant have bloat you can use it to debloat. It is called trocar in vet. Like you've always known it same vet steemian. So another function despite it can be use to deflate tyre.
Great idea! One of my favorite garden tools is a concrete placer. It works great in garden beds and moving mulch around.
Yeah, I typically use sticks and toothpicks. These tire tools are nice as they'll be easier to clean the dirt/mud off. Of course, it would mean I'd have to think more before I plant, so I'll never have them with me and I'll still be using sticks...
Hi @papa-pepper, many kind of things can be used as long as we wanna try more. really good thing to do gardening actually, you are really creative to the opportunity, salute!
Regard
What a cool idea, I usually just use the nearest stick I can find.
I have finished and posted the german translation, you can find it here - https://steemit.com/deutsch/@claudiaz/10-dinge-die-einen-erwarten-wenn-man-neu-ist
It's really cool how you can improvise stuffs with just anything. I guess we're even here. I love improvisation too.
I tell people this: you can't be stuck at anything when you master improvisation

LOL very nice. I actually use a kitchen knife sharpener so I can poke the hole for the seed and measure to my next one. I use to rope off grids to plant with but it was a lot of time just so the row is a little straighter. Always great to find me uses for something you already have.
