Hello everyone, what a beautiful day here in Vermont. Today I cut down a Elm tree that was dying. I figured it was good timing because the blackberry bushes and plum trees that lay below it were winter dormant. Not to mention I am running low on firewood.
It was a little tricky because it had three leaders growing up out of the base that twisted around each other... Also it was close to the main road. So I grabbed my ladder and put a rope up in it and cut it strategically one leader at a time from the ground while my father pulled on the rope each time.
We did pretty well overall a little chain link damage and one large limb on a plumb tree below got split. I taped the limb back together with electrical tape. We will see this summer if it heals up. I've seen electrical tape used for grafting so maybe it will work it worth a shot..!
good post
Thanks, I do interesting projects around my hobby farm daily but am new to blogging... I plan to just keep posting my activities as my farm grows and maybe my blog will grow... Do you know if that's a good strategy??
That is what I am doing. A post here and there. The blog will grow in time I think. I am new to blogging also. I will keep an eye out for new posts from you. I love Vermont.Good Luck to you.
Thank you for your encouraging words :)
