Strawberry Transplant!
In this short video I wanted to share how I transplanted some strawberry plants that I had received from a friend at work. These are ever bearing strawberries. I had these strawberries in a pot for about two years before I got around to planting them properly.
I am re-purposing a plastic 55 gallon drum cut in half length wise and some landscape stones I had laying around. I also put down some weed barrier cloth to help keep the weeds down and I am hoping this will allow me to better trim the grass around the strawberries.
The soil was purchased from Lowes on sale. We used 2 cubic feet of Sta-Green garden soil that is already properly fertilized. The last time I tried to "fertilize" a raised bed garden I burnt up the my carrots and tomatoes. This was about three to four years ago when I first started "trying" to garden and I put two parts soil with one part composted manure.... Yeah, I know! I am surprised that the plants didn't burst into flames! Or the garden police show up and arrest me for the murder of living plants!
In the video you will see how I put everything together. It was pretty quick and easy. I had a lot of fun spending time outdoors and doing just a bit more to feed our family!
