I don't grow many cacti, I seem to be rather good at killing them so I accepted this gifted cactus with trepidation. It enjoyed the spring heat and rewarded me with a flower but I was amazed that after all that effort by the cactus, the flower only lasted one day

oh, give them to me then I really grow them, the longest is 7 years
some do die but they're just 2 or a year that's why
did you over water? place too exposed to the sun? didn't talk to it .. do the other way around and they'll be fine ..
as for the flower .. that's normal .. have you heard of the Queen of the Night Cactus? That one flowers only at night and the next day - it's all dead or withered so this is normal :)
of course we'd like to have them longer specially that they're very beautiful
I think I overwater them, I have a mamillaria that I have had for about 7 years, but the rest didn't last
oh, a bit twice a month from Jan to Sept, end of Sept or early Oct you have to stop watering them if you live in a country with winter :) at least you still have them mamillarias :)
