This composting method is so easy to do, you may never go back to using a composting bin again.
To really emulate nature, do the composting method that nature does. Just CHOP AND DROP!
Material that gets composted on the forest floor is from what fell and stayed there. Leaves, perennials that went to seed, etc. It all gets composted in rich wonderful layers with no human intervention. Nature just knows what to do all by itself.

So why not treat your garden the same way? Chop or prune leaves and then let them go. Just drop them where you cut them. This works for anything growing. Just be careful of weeds that have gone to seed or of super invasion ones or you'll just be planting more weeds. You also shouldn't use this method if a plant has a disease or is full of pests.
We humans make it so much harder on ourselves than we need to. It's good to have a compost bin for food scraps to prevent rodent invasions, or a worm bin, but with chop and drop composting, the worms will come anyway.
Some gardens prefer a separate bucket for food scraps. They either dump the contents on top of the chopped up foliage or bury it somewhere in their garden. You'll have to decide how you want to handle the scraps. But, as for the rest of it, it can happily land where it is cut or pruned.

If you don't want a separate composting bin that needs to be turned as it cooks, then give this method a try. It is best to chop and drop before a good rain if you can. It will break down the contents faster, rather than have them dry up and blow around your yard.
Happy Gardening!
