I've learning a lot during my first attempt at container gardening this year. I've only ever helped take care of raised beds before so I had to adapt a bit.
Go for the bigger container! I made the mistake of going too small on some of my pots. I had some limitations on what I could plant in or I would have been more creative in the containers that I used.
Cucumber beetles are of the devil. Annoying pests that can kill your plant in no time flat. I lost two plants to them but saved one because I shook Sevin all over it. So if all goes well some late season cucumbers will happen.
2b. Tomatoes are divas! Fussy things.
- This little tool is great if you are like be and get anxious about over watering your plants.
- It's a good to have an idea on what you are going to do with the produce. I let my son pick out a chili pepper plant on a whim and guess what was the most productive plant of them all? I have chili peppers everywhere! It's good that they can be dried and saved or it would be a waste. (Everyone is getting chili pepper gifts for a while.)
- I really love this. I love the whole process of planting, care taking, observing, problem solving all up to the satisfaction of the harvest. I hope to do it on a larger scale on day but until I can get some land of my own I will be here with my pots continuing to grow.

Thanks!
Interesting thing this meter for the price! You might want to see if there is a local gardeners colony, a nice way on how to start without high initial upcosts - and eventually, it can pay the bill for rent if you will go with intensive growing system - using vertical gardening techniques you can get big yield on low acreage easily.
More to come about this here
Funny enough, just harvested our peppers today! :-)
Happy gardening and good luck!
Yeah, I got the meter pretty cheap on Amazon. I think under 10 dollars. Been I life saver when I was unsure. Also has a sunlight and pH on there.
Thanks for the advice! I will look into it! I read your post and good stuff. I've been doing lots of reading on permaculture lately.
