I've been trying to grow sunflowers for a few years now, and they get stolen every year. One year, someone plucked it out of a back-lane garden and took off with it. The next year, my "relatives" destroyed my sunflowers that had just bloomed before I got a chance to pick it or take a pic. It was very important that the just-bloomed sunflowers be hastily removed - much more important than any weeds or dead plants in the yard, haha. Anyway, I'm proud of my 2018 sunflower - I was hoping for a red and yellow one! :)

I was smiling so big in the pic cuz it was pretty windy out and the sunflower and patio curtains were whipping around and hitting me in the face hahaha
For us, the sunflower represents independence, survival, and success :)
