After a year away from blogging, I am back to report of the world of herbs and life as a flower enthusiast. The reason for my absence from this Libra Gardener blog is that I have spent the last year, or so, focused on sewing and creating and haven't had much inspiration to write.
I haven't written much about gardening, but I have certainly been gardening. Right now I find myself visiting my childhood home and the gardens my mom and I have there. And it is a wondrous sight to behold!
As an herbalist I cannot simply admire the sight of flowers. I must collect and create something with them! And so, I spent a few mornings gathering rose buds and calendula flowers.
With the roses, and a big jar of lavender I harvested in summer, I made little herb sachets to give to friends and family, mostly the women, as you might suspect.
These herb sachets are more crafts than medicine though they do have the utilitarian property of aroma. Added to a sock drawer or stuffed between clothes in luggage, these little bundles add a beautiful scent of the flowers they contain and any essential oils you may want to add. Either way. The scent, the magic, and beauty of the flowers are sure to add something special to whomever are gifted.
Soon I will be back into my regular schedule of posting about crafting & gardening and writing up full herbal profiles as I used to. Lavender and Rose are certainly on the top of the list for future herbal articles! Stay tuned...
