Finally! It’s weekends and I can find some time to share the progress of my new experiment in gardening. Yes, I call it experiments because in Florida it is very difficult to grow anything. Many of you will be disagreeing. How come? A lot of sun, warm temperature year round and many, many showers of rain. It’s a paradise, you would think. Not so fast. There are more many disadvantages. It’s very humid, very hot, and overpopulated with ants. Ants are the biggest issue because they are creating a thriving environment for scale, mealybug, aphid, and whitefly. It makes it almost impossible to fight these pests. I found simple solution:
Small green cups inserted under each leg of the construction and filled with water, preventing ants from getting on the plants.
They have no more control over my garden. It worked last year. Remember pictures I shared in the past blog? I finally had a decent harvest. This year I'm going to do it again. Also, I will plant few plants outside, just for comparison, and will share with you progress. For now, I have a few dozen of baby plants that I started indoors and I'm using miracle grow lights to provide an adequate amount of lights. Without that, plants are growing very leggy.
Today I’m going to replant seedlings in my newly prepared garden. Will keep you updated.
I really like that trick for stopping the ants, good luck with your seedlings
Thank you!
