Love this post! We have started doing a little gardening in Panama. Well, currently all of our stuff is in milk jugs, but we have a plan to get it in the soil. I had no idea that you could use so much different stuff for mulch. We have a ton of cardboard boxes and we've just been throwing them away but now I know I can use them there. Wahoo!! Do I just chop them into little pieces that look like wood chips?

as long as no glossy paint on it you can just add a layer over the soil as is!
Great, thanks for the info! I'm going to try it out. We have a ton of boxes after having moved a lot of stuff here and a lot of it is so wilty from the humidity that they can't be used again. Would be great to give them life as mulch!
