Genesis FarmBot way to grow vegetables in a machine. Machine above the soil has 3 directions moving head, which can change the caps and perform certain functions:
sow the seeds of different plants to user selected locations;
to measure soil moisture in any soil on the spot;
watering a plant efficiently, pouring water only at the plant site;
Weeds (its optically recognizable due to the increasing flow where no seed has been sown) butted to the ground.
And of course everything is managed and monitored directly through the interface can be accessed through a Web browser.
FarmBot Genesis is open source, it's all you can make and replicate themselves or order made option for 3500 dollars.
Is it practical invention? you tell me.
Nice invention, but for 3500 $ one could by a lot of vegetables, even organic if you wish.
You know the price is so high because they seek funding. The cost to develop the software etc. is high. For $3500 you can buy a lot of vegetables, but you can grow exponentionally more. This bot is, I think, a toy for geeks who are into gardening and can turn into profitable only with large-scale commercial agriculture.
love it hope to purchase one some day in the near future.
