This may look like a simple bird house made by a child and it was. The memory of the story that went with this garden treasure is ours and it still makes us smile. It now lays at the top of the lily garden.

It is possible for us to have bears in our backyard and through my granddaughter's baby years I'm sure she has overheard us talk of it. She worked on this birdhouse project with her grandfather and he let her be in total control of the decorating and she wanted to add a "for rent" sign to it that clearly stated "for birds not bears", and so we did. She made this at about age 4 and I found it funny and revealing about what she had given thought to.
That was years ago and the weathered memory still hangs bringing us to that place of happiness each time we walk by and notice. It's that simple somethimes.
