Have not posted for awhile as my garden has kept me too too busy. It has been a struggle for the poor plants as the weather in Vancouver has not been co-operating and of course now the end of July it is HOT but for how long? I have talked with fellow gardeners and a fair amount are saying that their tomato plants don't have fruit but lucky me I have a decent amount of fruit. I have planted a variety of 24 tomato plants just to see which I will continue to grow. My requirements are:
For salads:
-good producer, -large enough to slice,-nice flavor, appetizing just by looking at it
Dehydrating:
-good producer,-medium size (so as not to be left with just skin when dehydrated),-sweet, sweet (so far green tiger an artisan tomato has all that) and great color (more colors the better when in a jar)
For tomato sauce:
-good producer,-long not round (I prefer San Marzano but willing to try Roma),-not too acidic with nice flavor
Have also planted: swiss chard, beets, carrots, cucumber, radicchio, broccoli di minsestra, escarole (escarole makes a great smoothie and also a dish cooked with beans yum!)
Now finally, veggies are ready to pick and eat but have too much, so I thought of selling some but my dilemma is where to post the ed? Craigslist? Don't Know!
