My team run in PUBG IEM Katowice Qualifier

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

So as some of you heard, I play PUBG semi-pro. I am in an Estonian organisation called WORTEX( http://wortex-gaming.com ). It all started when 3 friends got together and got this idea to start a PUBG team, because all of us played PUBG constatly. And one of us was already playing in WORTEX, but in the CS:GO team. Well, he switched over to PUBG and that's where it went off. Time goes past, both friends aren't playing in the team anymore and I am left with 3 new players: Luik, MrKnight and Estophy. We start practicing constatly, playing multiple hours a day. I really am motivated to play this game in pro level and hit up higher prize tournaments in the future!

We started off with our regional tournaments, one was called pubgevents, sadly it died off, but it gave us a great start! We learned alot there and faced off multiple good teams. The prize was nothing in the tournament, but it was a fun event. When we finally confirmed our full lineup and also got a stand-in (PAHARETT) we started looking for higher tournaments. And so we found IEM Katowice Qualifier. There was a spefific time where you could register for the event and also an spefific time where you could checkin. The tournament could only hold 500 teams, but something went wrong with their system and in the end of the day there were 800 teams registered to the event. And that's when everyones time graphic went off, our game that we were supposed to have on day 1 went off to day 2.

So that aside. We start our first game with no idea what's coming to us. We land as far away as possible and start scavenging for gear. After going through some compounds we find some enemies, our in-game leader Knight, goes totally off and starts massacring everyone around us, we end up facing our comrades "Royal banditos" in the end, sadly we lost but that gave us a big confidence boost! We got 2nd place in our first game with 14 kills, and our in-game leader got 11 out of those! So moving onto our 2nd game, we had a pretty confident game where all of us got atleast 3 kills and we ended up on 3rd place with 11 kills. So now comes the 3rd and final game of Round 1. Sadly thanks to our unluck we ended up on 6th place with 2 kills. But overall we got 3rd place that round and went off to round 2.

ROUND 1 SUMMARY:

A week goes around, the next Round begins, Round 2. And this is the day I am writing this 27.01.2018.
We go into our games with full confidence boost, we are ready to win! We practiced the whole week so that we could to good today. So as we usually do we land as far away as possible to avoid RNG f*cking us over. We get our gear and just hold the zone. The end zone sadly was the worst place I have ever seen a zone be. We faced off a really great team called Eazy gaming who beat us in the end. That game we got 11 kills and got 2nd place. So now going into game 2, RNG got us, and 3 of us got killed leaving Knight alive. He played the zone perfectly, going from one compound to other without getting noticed. So 30minutes foward and somehow Knight is still alive! As I said he played the zone perfectly and we ended up on 2nd place thanks to him! We only got 2 kills which he had but that was really epic to specate. Our nerves were up there. So here we go, our 3rd game we were ready for this game. We land as far away as possible and start hitting up small places again to get loot with the smallest risk possible. But sadly we hit up the wrong place and 3 of us die again facing against 4 people who were holding their houses. Suprise, suprise Knight survived again. Now a miracle happens again and he gets us to 2nd place again! Our strategy that game was to play around the team that was pretty much killing everyone around us, we went as far away from them as possible and tried surviving. Well we end up getting 2nd place overall that Round and we were hyped!

ROUND 2 SUMMARY:

Well, for some reason we get a message that 3rd round is starting today aswell! We were pretty much steemed out there. But we went into the games with full confidence boost that we would try our best! Sadly the first game ends up really bad for us and we die really early into the game. We get placed 13 that game. And that took our mentality down a bit. We all refresh our emotions and go into game 2. We get really lucky that game and get ourselves a whole city that game to loot. We get looted up and start hitting up the zone. The zone didn't really like us and we had to run awhile from zone to zone. But we somehow managed to hit up the last zone. Estophy dies really early on so only 3 of us were alive. We pretty much get a great spot going, but then suddenly a team shows up, the team takes down Knight, but Luik goes massive and killed the whole team that killed Knight(he got discord messages after saying that he was hacking, but we all knew it was not true). So we finish off 2 teams near that spot we had, and suddenly another team shows up! Well that team cleans me off the server and starts searching for Luik, who was hidden and for like 15minutes that team couldn't find him. Till the last minute of the game where the zone goes into 1 place and kills everyone. Well there was only 6 people left, that one team Luik and a solo guy. Something really weird happened, the team couldn't find that solo guy and ended up killing Luik, but all of them also died to the zone, and the solo guy ended up winning the game! We got 3rd place that game, but we were really hoping to get atleast 2nd so that we could hop back on to the game. Well we were happy with that game though, we went into game 3 with some boost. Like everygame we went as far away as possible from people and started looting again. Well it all was good till the zone decided to go to the other side of the map and completely f*ck us over. Well shit happens. We ended up 12th place that game with us driving right into a team with a car which they completely destroyed us.

Well those games aside, we were really happy with our progress, because our practice period wasn't that long. We got alot of experience that game and learned a few things we could do in our next games. We debugged our mistakes and went offline doing our own things.

Thank you for reading my journey through the PUBG IEM Katowice Qualifier.

I honestly didn't know that PUBG will be at ESL Katowice. So good job taking the shot at it AND educating me ;)

We tried our best, we were really happy with our results, but we got beat by better teams in the end, this all gave us more reasons why we should continue our journey and I do hope seeing myself in a huge event in the future. And you are welcome.

Interesting read.

I am always proud to see Estonians getting into competitive scene and this is the first step. Considering the time this team has been together, you guys have a lot of potential and I hope to hear/see/read from you in the future.

Good luck to Wortex!

WORTEX is our first step to the scene, lets see where this takes us. We are also hitting up PlayFair tournament in Tallinn this year.
