I Hate Minecraft!!

Those would be the words I would utter every time someone would bring up Minecraft. The reason why that game obtained the amount of popularity, in such a short amount of time, was foreign to me. Especially since the major demographic seem to be little kids. That could have been the contributing reason why I had such disdain for the game without ever having played it myself. Some of the first people that I spoke to about the game were fanboys that turned me off by how obsessed they were with the game. Researching what you can actually do in the and what the end-game was, I also think it was a bit of denial on my part. Knowing what the potential of the game had I, for the longest time, refused to accept the fact that I might like this game a lot.

Almost a week ago I decided to play the game for the first time with my roommate for shits and giggles. Plus out of sheer curiosity. One of his friends was streaming gameplay and sent us an invite to a world that he had created for the stream. The settings were on Survival Mode set to Hard. I spawned during the day and started to navigate around the world. I started following some of the other players and doing what they were doing to start building a community house to sustain. Shortly after I realized the scope of what can be done in this game when I entered the menu for a crafting table. That realization left me overwhelmed, to say the least. A plethora of ideas, questions and thirst for more knowledge made me want more. I could tell that the friend of my roommate was a little bummed that he had such a NOOB on his stream but was nice enough to answer some of my questions once he noticed that the others that were playing were more than willing to help me out a little as well.

A couple of days after that stream I decided to go out and purchase the game for myself so I could dive a little deeper into the game and start flexing those creative juices. My roommate had created a world already and sent me an invite so he could help me along the way. We found a village and started to build on what was already there. He started to build some crops and I worked on mining so we would have materials to build more. The game got more fun once we were self-sustaining and could work on projects to add to the house. After turning the village that we found into our own and building on to the huts and house that were already there we are barely getting to the point where we can build a mining rail system to the multitude of mines that we created. Learning what could be done with the Red Stone, levers and switches, a whole new world of creativity was open and I felt like I leveled up.

With no shortage of things to do and the multitude of compilation videos of what some people have created, I found myself wondering why I didn’t try this game sooner. After a week of not wanting to do anything else and contemplating how many sick days I had at work, I have an idea why. I wouldn’t get anything done, lol.

We al love Lego , so yes Minecraft's block world is fun .
There even are some very good minecraft inspired games .

Portal Knights , where the blocks got soft edges and higher quality textures .
Empyrion Galactic survival , Dig yourself a spaceship ..or fleet ;-) .

Unturned , low graphs , but the best zombie survival game i ever played .

Gameplay is what makes a game , if i want realism , ill go outside ;-)

I most definitely agree. The gameplay is key, whether what you can do or who you are able to interact with. I've heard nothing but great things about that game, Unturned. Haven't heard of the others but they sound interesting. Can you test fly the spaceships you build in Empyrion Galactic survival? That would be neat. The texture packs on Minecraft are pretty cool, just not in to the game enough to participate in micro transactions.

Empyrion , just like Minecraft , has a creative mode .
Ships and stuff you create in creative can be saved as templates .
They even can be shared true the Steam( not Steem ) workshop .
In survival you are able to use those templates in a factory .
gather the resources , fill the factory and wait a while .
And spawn your creations in survival solo or online , easy .
If you love minecraft .. you'l like Empyrion :-) .

Portal knights is nice , a lot like minecraft , but aiming at the younger gamers .

Unturned , if it's still a free game , try it , it's fun .

it is a bit better than Tetris

True. I'll still get down on some Tetris though :)

It's a great game indeed. I used to despise legos as a kid, but minecraft is limitless. Plus legos are messy... In minecraft the only messy thing is creepers. Lol. Good post!

Thank you and yes, legos are messy. Stepping on them is no fun either, lol. Creepers are a headache but im having more trouble with the skeletons with bows and arrows.

Gotta make your own bow and arrow... Your range is wayyy better. Haha. Have fun!
