Gaming has had the issue of treating female gamers differently for some time. The girl gamer stereotype is a toxic one. There are numerous cases of women getting mistreated in online matches simply because they are female. But there is no such thing as a male gamer and a female gamer just a gamer. So I am happy to see that, in the UK, female gamers will accounts for a billion pounds worth of sales in a 12-month period. Female gamers are not going anywhere and they are growing in the market.
Gaming still has a way to go before it sheds the image of the guy in his parent's basement drinking mountain dew in front of a computer screen. Of course he is overweight and has no life. But we are entering a world of esports where the players are treated like pro athletes (with sponsors), casual players of all ages gaming on their phones and both men and women kicking some butt online. It will take time but this article hints we are getting there.

Thanks for sharing your perspective and this article. It's great to see that female gamers are proving to game designers and publishers that we are an important demographic that is eager to spend our disposable income on gaming. I hope that as we continue to approach participation and spending parity in the gaming industry, both destructive stereotypes of "basement-dwelling virgin" and "gamer girl" will find that they have no place in the gaming community.
Well said @mtgmisfit
wow thats really great
Good to see, gaming growing is only good for the industry.
We're construction by culture and community, but now's day female can participate in more area of society such as gamer that was dominated by male.
Nice post :)
