It was just announced that the second part of The Turning Tides DLC for Battlefield 1 is set to be released on January 30th.
The first part of this DLC, which focuses mostly on great opposite landings of the Great War, among smaller changes and additions brought us two maps of the tragic Gallipoli Campaign - Cape Helles and Achi Baba, faction of British Royal Marines, an L-Class destroyer, an Infiltrator pick-up class and also a few weapons - M1917 Trench Carbine, Farquhar-Hill, M1917 MG, Carcano M91 Carbine, Type 38 Arisaka and Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16.
Part one was warmly welcomed - infantry players love vehicle-less Achi Baba map, most players appreciate Cape Helles and returning Conquest Assault mode (a test for Omaha Beach maybe wink wink) in which defending team starts with all flags capped but no base, and the attacking team has a bit more tickets and a base, but have to slug it out by attacking flags on beaches, cliffs and hills. New weapons also found quite a few fans. I personally really enjoy the famous Arisaka bolt action rifle for scout class and M1917 heavy machine gun for support, but I know for a fact that the Farquhar-Hill is the contender for the new favorite medic class semi and the M1912 assault machine pistol is just... lets say you shouldn't try to come closer than 20 meters to that thing.
Well, what are we waiting for in part deux? A C-Class Airship and two very interesting maps - Zeebrugge and Heligoland Blight. Zeebrugge is set during a British assault on, well, Zeebrugge, which was an important harbor for Germans in the Great War. Most of the map (is water obviously) plays on a long pier. This map features heavy sea fighting which are played out by behemoth Destroyers, L-Class destroyers (which spawn and play like sea tanks, basically), MAS boats, airplanes and the whole new C-Class Airship, a vehicle reminiscent of behemoth Airship from base game but much smaller and proportionally weaker.
L-Class destroyers (which spawn and play like sea tanks, basically)
Heligoland Blight on the other hand plays around and on the island of the same name. But boy oh boy, I have some news for you... this is a battle featuring behemoth Destroyer versus behemoth Destroyer fight, with supporting performance of 2 L-Class destroyers per side, a SHIT TON of torpedo boats, airplanes and an insignificant infantry fighting that will basically only come to flag capping.
As a huge Battlefield fan and one of the people who actually enjoy this entry to the series, I'm eager to play on those maps.
And then there is the base game update. I really would have a hard time explaining everything it changes or the way it changes things, but basically, TTK will be decreased again and gunplay is supposed to be more enjoyable with distances of engagement now more dependent on classes so there won't be any assaults sniping with Automatico and such. Here are patch notes if you want to delve into all the incoming changes.
Save the date - Tuesday, January 30th.
