TF2 Weapon of the Week: the Hou-long Heater

in #gaming7 years ago

In Team fortress 2 the Heavy Has the Powerful Primary Weapon, the Miniguns, one Minigun Option is Often Overlooked, the Hou-long Heater

The Hou-Long Heater is a Promotional Item from the game Sleeping Dogs.

It Creates a Ring of Fire Around the Heavy while the Heater is Spun up. It also does 25% more Damage Against Foes who are on Fire. at the Cost of 10% less overall damage, and it Consumes 4 Ammo Per Second While its Spun up.

The Heater a strong choice in situations where enemies must approach you, such as when contesting a Control Point, but not when they cowardly stay at range. Keeping your gun revved consumes ammunition even when not firing, so ammunition can become a problem. This can be alleviated by defensive play near Dispensers or the Payload cart, which will automatically refill your ammunition. Don't entirely rely on the flame ring to reveal surprise attacks; enemies can time their approach between waves.

However my Favorite Way to Play the Heater is Ambush Style. Instead of Being Forced to Team with a Pyro to Deal Extra damage, You can Ambush Foes and the Part of "You coming out of Nowhere Revved up" also gives you an Opportunity to Ignite them with the Ring of Fire and Quickly Kill them with the Heater's Damage Bonus.

The Heater is Intended to Act as a Counter to Spy, but as Said Above, Spies can Time the Approach and Backstab you, Heck the Ring of Fire does not do much Damage so the Spy can Take the Fire Damage and kill you anyway.

Now For Weapons to Pair with it.

Since you are Going to be Running Low an Ammo Often, It Might be Worth to Pair the Heater with a Shotgun(Stock Shottie, Family Business, or the Panic attack) Over a Food Item.

And thats about it. See you all Later.

Hmm, I never thought about using the Heater as a counter for spy. But then again, I don't play Heavy much.
I really like your weekly weapon reviews. Keep it up!
