I don't post much about gaming, I'm just not sure anyone cares? Honestly, I don't know a single person who didn't play Oregon Trail in grade school. So in my opinion, this post should be highly relatable. The game Organ Trail was spun off our old favorite and holy shit is it fun! In this version you have to input the names of your passengers, I opted for a ragtag gang of my closest friends and family.
Its tough on the Organ Trail and our journey was off to a bad start. Our navigator Nicklez was holding the map upside down. We would need to backtrack, heading through zombie-ridden territory once more. This truly cost us!
Anxious about his earlier flub, my friend Nicklez held us up having a panic attack. Anything can happen on the Organ Trail! anxiety, explosive diarrhea among a hundred other worse case scenarios. My buddy has real-life anxiety so this was a little bit of art imitating life. I thought that was bizarre, but it added to the emersion I suppose?
Throughout the game, you encounter hordes of zombies. You'll be confronted constantly with the choice to either kill those who have been infected or leave them to turn. It's dark I know, but kind of amusing also. Instead of offing anyone, I chose to rest a while, no doubt to reflect on what I would be willing to do should someone become infected!
Inevitably, one by one our health bars lowered. It became impossible to keep everyone at a decent balance of coherent and healthy. My sibling was among the first to become infected. I tossed around the idea of doing them in for days until the choice was made for me. Mike had become incapacitated.
I love my sibling very much and while it was difficult, I couldn't put the other passengers at risk. I did what I had to do, it was a mercy killing in the end. RIP.
Supplies dwindled, we had lost Mike and the rest of us were barely hanging on. Nicklez had finally succumbed to his infection from an earlier zombie encounter. Being a good friend, I did the right thing and put him down. RIP bud.
Watching my loved ones drop like flies took its toll and I too lost my life to the Organ Trail. My tombstone read as it would in real-life, "I did my best..." Unfortunately this time, my best was not good enough.
I know this post was a little different, but I really want to show my whole self to my Steemit followers! Gaming is a huge part of my life. I think it would be cool to eventually fire up the PS4 and take a few of you on the old Organ Trail. What do you think? Would you want your name to be included on my next journey? Let me know in the comments below!
As always I appreciate you spending time with me today. I would also like to give a warm welcome to my new followers! I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
