Sometimes a franchise's history is one of a struggle. Such is the case for Fire Emblem, but this franchise has come back from the brink and is now one of Nintendo's staples, earning it a spot among the Smash Bros. roster.
Who else could represent a franchise but the star of the first game and precisely one-half of the franchise's western debut? Marth would return with hardly any changes, since his current play style captures the core of the Fire Emblem games: strategically moving in order to claim the advantage agains foes.
Instead of continuing to put stages separately, I'll be putting the stages in with their characters from here on out. With this in mind, Marth's stage would be a hard one, since his home game lacks memorable locales. Instead, I considered the possibility of the fight taking place on one of the game's maps. It would remain top-down, with the structures, mountains, and forests acting as platforms.
As much as the series's roots should be respected, there was a time not that long ago when the series faced what might very well have been its last game. The developers were aware of the likely fate of the franchise, so they decided to go all out and cram as much as they could into this game: Fire Emblem Awakening. This game went on to do incredibly well, revitalizing the franchise and turning it into what it is today, launching a new era of the series. As such, it would only be fair to grant Robin, the game's protagonist, a slot in the roster, to represent the reawakening of the franchise and the era that continues to this day. He would mostly play the same, but he would likely have tomes replace his sword wherever possible. There's also one big change that I would like to make: replacing his limited-use tome mechanic with the ability to pair with other units from his game in a manner not unlike Shulk's Monado Arts. This pairing would take the place of a special attack, namely Nosferatu. As for the partners themselves, they would represent a diverse set of fighting styles from the series, with a sword user, a lance user, an axe user, a bow user, a ninja, a healer, and a dragon. These helpers would take over for the tilts and aerials, and contribute to Robin's smash attacks. They all would contribute to the final smash, which would consist of all of Robin's potential partners (and Robin himself, of course) surrounding a nearby opponent and attacking in pairs. Regarding this character's stage, I haven't played a Fire Emblem game, let alone Awakening, so I have no idea what could work well. Sorry about that, but if you guys have any ideas, put them in the comments, and if I get one within the week, I'll add it in here.
