Are YouTubers RUINING Retro Gaming and Game Collecting? I want answers from YOU Steemit!

in #gaming7 years ago

In this video I tackle an interesting subject that gets brought up very often: are YouTubers driving up prices of retro video games? Are big channels talking about certain games ruining the hobby, and the collecting aspect, of retro gaming? I've heard tons of responses to this on YouTube, but now that I'm on Steemit, I want to hear what THIS community thinks of this as well! Be sure to comment!

Well I don’t think they are ruining it, a lot of millennials wouldn’t even know about the old classics if it wasn’t for retro gamers on YouTube. But of course, like always it depends how a certain topic/game is treated.

Very true! If no one knew about the games, no one would care.

Hey thats me in that thumbnail. And yes, I am riuning it. Sorry...

It's ok. You didn't know!

Anyone that makes a video talking about a game, automatically influences it. Especially retro games. That's just the nature of the Internet now unfortunately. I think someone should make a big deal about a crappy game like Top Gun and see if they could spike the price as a social experiment.

I agree with you. I think awareness of a game creates interest, but what people DO with that interest is what drives the prices up!

Stupid people. Getting interested in my games.

Horde them all!

I am going to start buying up game stores.

I think Youtubers ARE ruining not only retro gaming, but ALL gaming. Except for my channel of course. It gets a pass. Because I'm me. If all the other channels would just GO AWAY people would watch us instead. Ahhh... wouldn't that be grand? Always a legend in my own mind. :)

Then everyone will accuse you of ruining ALL the gaming as the only people who talk about it.

I mean.... metal jesus channel is better

I believe Youtubers have improved retro gaming in general. People like Pat Contri, PushingUpRoses, and the guys from Game Sack have created a valuable knowledge base that new and lifelong fans of retro gaming can use to discover and explore video games and consoles.
