The Yian Kut-Ku is an early stage boss monster in the Monster Hunter Series. It is a bird-like wyvern that has these big wing-like/fan-like ears as distinct features as well as a big lower beak/chin. He's hearing is excellent so when battling this monster make sure to keep a sound bomb in your inventory, sound bomb paralyzes this monster and keeps it stunned for a few seconds.
To be honest the Yian Kut-Ku looks kinda cute so people make it even more lovable like make it into a chibi, just look at this one here:
Or this one from Zerochan. Can't get enough of those cuddly babies? Don't get too much though, you know how babies are.
However, do not make the Yian Kut-Ku angry because you're going to be in a tough spot and you have no choice but to fight. Just look at this Blue Yian Kut-Ku getting mad:
The Yian Kut-Ku has different attack patterns that you have to be wary of.
- Pecking - this attack is made by while rushing to the front.
- Rush - It goes into a frenzy running towards the front while blasting fireballs side-to-side.
- Fire Balls - it will blast of fire balls consecutively from its mouth to an AoE towards the front.
- Tail Swipe - a side-to-side attack of its tail.
Overall, this is an easy monster to defeat. My favorite equipment to use to battle it is either a Long Sword or a Great Sword.
