Hey people, I'd like to dedicate my first post to this great game that has made me fall in love with multiplayer gaming once again: Duck Game, an indie game by Landon Podbielski.
A funny, fast-paced, charming, competitive (not try-hard, unless you have one of those friends), easy to set-up 2D multiplayer platformer shooter!
It contains 40+ lethal weapons, from melee weapons like swords, to explosives like bazookas and grenade launchers and some other... well, useless stuff. Such as the Trombone but at least you can play some sweet music, eh?
Speaking of music, the soundtrack is just... great. It can cheer me up everytime I listen to it, the retro tunes it has are a truly fine piece of work. The sound effects can hurt your ears sometimes but they are mostly pretty good too, it has plenty of those satisfying sound effects that make every time you kill a duck make you go "Oh that felt real good!"
The game features a single player mode, a multiplayer mode local or multiplayer online (from 2 up to 4 players) and a level designer for you to go crazy making multiplayer levels to play with your friends! I personally enjoy making levels on my free time.
The single-player mode (or arcade) offers a variety of challenges where you can unlock some hats to customize your duck and game modifiers for your multiplayer games (such as moon gravity and other crazy stuff). You can improve your skills by practicing here to show off your moves to your friends.
The multiplayer mode is well, the game's bread and butter. It offers a free for all mode and a team mode, it has plenty of options to customize such as the amount of matches required to win, the maps you want to play on (The game's default maps which are over 50+ and/or your custom ones) and also all the game modifers you have unlocked in the single player mode. Each duck has their own little room where they can customize themselves and quack as long as they want. Boy that's annoying.
You can also play with strangers, but that's not really fun, it's all about playing with friends, right? The voice chat just makes the experience a hundred percent better. Extra style points if you do a crate war between your friends instead of using guns!
And last but not least, the level designer: I'm not going to go really deep into this but I have to say it's not the most fun thing to use, it has a long way to go in terms of improvement to be really user-friendly, but still I am thankful he was kind enough to include this feature, making the game be able to live forever with user content.
That's not everything, thanks to the implementation of Steam Workshop, the game continues to have support with new mods (new weapons, map features, hats!) and of course a bunch of maps every day, and the developer brings out updates from time to time. So if you think the game will get old, think again!
Conclusion: This is the most fun multiplayer experience I have had since the first Super Smash Bros. and Mario Party games, definitely a game I want to see grow in terms of content and community, that's the whole point of this! I want to hear your opinions about this little game, I'm sure many of you know it by now but those who don't, give it a try! It's only 12$ on Steam (36$ for the Four-pack ) but you definitely don't wanna play by yourself, so get some friends to play with!
Great first post! Followed!
Thank you! I'll get better at this!
