Great thread and an excellent ending point to the discussion we where having the other day on discord.
I still stand by my side of things, that while technological improvement and graphics are great in games, going for ultra realistic graphics doesn't always add to the experience and most of the time your games end up looking like copy/paste of every other game because you are all trying to replicate the human world perfectly, instead game artist should try to have their own vision of art and creating a defined art style is the best way to achieve this, like for example, Blizzard does with their games or Fortnite graphics, etc...

That's quite the good point. Developing an original and pretty art-style while implementing realistic features and details is a pretty good combo to go with!
