What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a first-person survival voxel-based game. There is no real way to finish the game, you can only finish the only mission there is which is defeating the "Elder Dragon". After you defeat the Elder Dragon you read the credits, but right after you can continue playing. Minecraft is a sandbox game, you can do whatever you feel like doing, there are literally no limitations. Its strong point is probably the freedom to build whatever you want. When you create your first world you will be spawned in a procedurally generated terrain, that is literally never-ending. There are three map types - super-flat, default and amplified. Super- flat is a completely flat terrain. The default map type is the normal out of all of them with hills mountains and all the biomes that are in the game(there are plenty). And amplified is a map type that generates humungous mountains and other very interesting types of terrain. Minecraft also has a day-night cycle, in the day you are free to do whatever you like, but watch out for creatures like creepers(green explosive monsters that sneak up on you and explode in your face). At night it gets even more dangerous because that is when all the other baddies spawn like - zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers, and enderman. I think we all know what a zombie, a skeleton, and a spider look like, but I bet most of you can't even imagine what an enderman would look like. Let me explain, and enderman is a tall, slim purple looking monster that only attacks you if you stare right into his eyes, oh yea and he can also teleport. Skeletons, however, can shoot arrows at you. To progress in the game you must build a shelter during the day and go mine for ores. There are several ores in the game like - coal, iron, diamond, gold, emerald, lapis lazuli, and redstone just to name a few. Oh but Haisir what is redstone, well, it is an ore that spawns very deep down and has the ability to transfer electrical current in the game, and yes there are also devices that can be powered. I could talk about all the things that are in the game for hours, but to put it simply, there is a ton of things and more.

My experience

I've had a lot of fun with this game. It is truly a great experience and I would recommend everyone to at least play the demo version if not the full game. It is worth the price tag in my opinion because the adventure is just never ending, you can have fun with friends in multiplayer games either killing each other over and over again or working together to survive and thrive. Now I have played this game for a very, and I do mean very long time. And I have to say that I was clueless on what to do when I first started playing, because well there is one little thing you have to adjust to that I didn't go over, and that is crafting. To obtain any item in the game(that is craftable) you need to know its crafting recipe, so that is why I was lost because at first as you could imagine I did not know a single recipe. Not to scare, because in the recent updates it has been taken care of, and all the recipes can be seen at any moment. I found the multiplayer games to be very enjoyable and relaxing because you weren't in such a rush to find everything you need to survive the first night. And finally what I really love about the game is modding, oh the mods they make Minecraft even more interesting that it is, and when you have gotten yourself some mods you can also pick up a texture pack or two, which changes how the game looks entirely.

What others think of the game

Minecraft is praised for being an amazing game which in the early days as made by one person called Notch. Even though Minecraft now belongs and is under the copyright of Microsoft, Notch is still remembered as the person who brought this voxel sandbox to life in the first place. A lot of people disregard the potential fun they can have while playing this game and call it a kids game even though it is literally meant for all ages. Anyone that has an imaginative brain can find joy in playing this game because as I said it gives you the freedom to do whatever you like, however you like. It might be limited to only blocks, but you would be amazed at what people are capable of making in the voxel world of Minecraft. These days however people focus on multiplayer and player vs player aspects. The servers in Minecraft are very populated some even reaching over a 1000 or even 2000 players online at the same time. It might because Minecraft was the most sold game for a while and might even be today. The online experience is completely different. And of course, with a lot of players comes a lot of YouTube personalities who enjoy every aspect of the game.

The future for the game

The future is looking just fine for Minecraft. It has held its head high for a few years now and it really is unique from all the other sandbox games in some way. I expect for the player base to settle at one spot and not really fluctuate rapidly at all. I don't see Minecraft losing any players, and certainly not losing any money either. Some people may find themselves growing too old for it, but there will as we know never be a lack of children who will want to play it since the world population just keeps growing. Honestly, Minecraft has a long time to go before it becomes forgotten. You could compare its impact on the gaming community to how Call of Duty changed everything many years ago, and it is still being played today.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Minecraft really is one of a kind. So I recommend you try it. No other game out there does voxel sandbox as good as Minecraft does. It really is a great game to play with your friends and a great game to visualize your imagination and even fantasize a bit. Enjoy it while you can, but don't rush it, you have plenty of time.
