Gaming Discussion...
So for me my roots are certainly set in the online gamer world I love to play games online because it gives me time to socialise with friends and play at the same time.
Unfortunately as you are probably aware with online gaming comes Rage gaming and I'm a sucker for a good rage quit. I just can't help it,
Hardcore-Story driven-Solo.
To me, hardcore just means you spend a lot of time gaming and you take it seriously as a hobby (or job if you're a YouTuber of streamer). I definitely do, I have my favorite series, and I love the discussions. I also make some YouTube videos - just small time though.
Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite series, so obviously I am story-driven as a gamer. I really like just being able to sit back and think and really contemplate messages and life in general. To me, that is meaningful and satisfying.
Lastly, just as a more introverted person, I tend to prefer solo. I'm not against online necessarily, but I don't like how a lot of online focused games seem to sacrifice story and single-player. Not all do, but it seems pretty common to me.
Hardcore!
I was a hardcore gamer years ago, but I don't have enough time to being it now :c
In the past I'd say hardcore multiplayer. I was very interested in games like Ark, Rust, and anything else with some semblance of PvP. I'm actually pretty disappointed that the PUBG era has come about right after the birth of my first child which goes without saying has killed most of my ability to game.
As I mentioned above I just recently became a father so my gaming has moved from multiplayer to single player rather quickly. Not that I mind single player but there is a huge lack of great single player games coming out. I've been taking the time I have to visit old games that I haven't played yet and just started with the witcher series. So Hardcore PvP not to Single Player story driven.
Congratulations for becoming father! It sounds great, exhausting, but great. I always loved fighting in games, but never online. PUBG, anyway, sounds interesting for me, but my internet would never let me play it. I recommend you, also, to read The Witcher books, Geralt is just epic. I agree with your words about how actually there are just a few games with good single player mods.
Thanks! Actually I'm planning on picking up The Witcher books soon. I really fell in love with the lore and the world presented so I'm sure the source material is insanely epic.
You should make an 2x1 and read the ASOIAF book series too. Just personal opinion

Ha, I feel you on the online rage. Sometimes it happens. I've been an online gamer the most, but I feel like I identify with all of the above. Including professional sports. I started a esports blog focused on League of Legends. Take a look if you're interested #riftlife
I would say I'm an all-rounder when it comes to gaming. I started off playing games like halo and super smash bros and now I'm big into Overwatch and Rocket League. Just got VR too and Echo Arena and VRChat are dope!
I'm gonna mix it a bit....
I'm first and foremost and ONLINE RAGER..... and that's why i'm staying away from online games at the moment!
I've turned into a COMPLETIONIST STORY DRIVEN Nintendo Switch guy.... looking at you Zelda and Mario.....
My situation is very normal, I was, years ago, a hardcore gamer, I used to play, normally, 5-8 hours each day. My favorite game is Castle Crashers:
But the game that I played the most... must be GTA SA. Actually, I don't play much hours for each game, I prefer to play more games in less time.
i would say i am a serious, story driven, casual gamer.... let me explain. when i decide to dedicate some time to a game i am deadly serious about it, take Alien isolation for example, recently i got my new corsair vibe pro headset, and i have never loved a game so much as this one because of the headset. so i enjoy playing it, but also like to think i take the gameplay serious. i absolutely love story driven games. although alien isolation is a little cliche, it is still a good concept. but my all time fave has to be silent hill, metal gear solid's and of course, soul reaver.
and i am casual as it is not often i sit down and play, maybe an hour or so a day.
but gaming has been a part of me since my first atari console back in the early 80's, followed shortly with the NES. and the fun had with friends playing various games. and that is what gaming should all be about. 30 years later and that is still what i believe.
I am definitely story driven, but i do love playing online with my friends sometimes. I wouldn't call myself hardcore, but i play to much to be considered casual. Maybe hard-casual?
what about the henti gaming comunity? i mean sure we.. i mean they could fall into the solo and hardcore categories but it doesn't feel right.
As a kid on Playstation's 1 & 2: Hardcore Completionist, from getting those final gems/dragons/eggs in Spyro to stopping Neo-Coms from nuking Seattle in SOCOM on Commander (Or whatever the hardest difficulty was, been so long...) or just beat my friends on Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2.
After I shunned consoles as a teenager and moved to PC Gaming: Online Solo, thousands of hours going Armchair General in games like Civ IV, Shogun 2 and Hearts Of Iron III, to going full grunt in Crysis and Far Cry 2 or jumping in combat flight sims like IL-2 1946 and War Thunder when it was still fresh.
Nowadays on Playstation's 3 & 4 and my aging rig: Depends on my mood, thanks to games like Telltales: The Walking Dead, Mass Effect Trilogy and to a certain extent Stellaris, I've become a little bit Story Driven Casual since these are the 3 main games that allowed me to make decisions that will affect later events in said game or even it's sequels, granted, I feel that it could have been implemented better that they were in some spots but for a newcomer to that sort of experience, it was like a renaissance.
Oh, and I've been a Rager through and through the entire time, a few broken controllers will attest to that :)
