Why is gold always the finish line in video games?
Gold is sound money, in other words REAL MONEY. Gold also has intrinsic value or value that it has "in itself." We treasure gold deeply and that's why we need it to complete a game or are rewarded with it throughout a game.
I mean just look at League of Legends, the currency used is GOLD. Gold is the real term used in the game to buy items:
Gold is important, and gold is everywhere. Turns out Pac-Man was also made of gold:
