Since I was talking about video games based movies (It was TV series actually) here is the upcoming movies that maybe based on your favorite video games.

Tomb Raider

Release date : 16 March 2018
Director : Roar Uthaug

Tomb Raider is back, and is a reboot from Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider films. This one will be based on the rebooted Tomb Raider in 2013. This Tomb Raider reboot will focus on Lara's search of her father, and Alicia Vikander will be  the iconic adventurer Lara Croft. According to some leaked script, the movie will start from some MMA ring and Walton Goggins will be the villain.

Rampage

Release date : 20 April 2018
Director : Brad Peyton

From the retro game where we play as three monstrous gigantic ape, lizard, and werewolf wrecking city's skyscrapers. Rampage starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, after surviving in the destructive movie San Andreas now he will do that again in Rampage, because he won't be any of these monsters. The director said that the movie going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than we'd expect.

Five Nights At Freddy's: The Movie

Release date : June 2018
Director : Gil Kenan

From the horror game Five Night At Freddy's, this horror game will soon scare you again in the big screen. So if you want more crazy animatronic animals jumpscare from Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, you might also like this movie. Warner Bros. Pictures has the right for the production of the film version and they said they wanted to create an insane, terrifying and weirdly adorable movie. If you love indie games but haven't played this one, I reccomend you to play this point-and-click survival horror game.

Sonic the Hedgehog

Release date : 2018
Director : Jeff Fowler

We will soon be seeing Sonic running again in the big screen. Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be produced as a combined live action and animation movie. Sonic and his friends will team up against the evil Dr. Eggman Robotnik. That story may sounds pretty simple, but who knows if it will be good in the hands of  Jeff Fowler who is known for his Gopher Broke working with Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool.

Sleeping Dogs

Release date : 2018
Director : TBA

Production company Original Film and DJ2 Entertainment is currently producing a movie based on Square Enix's classic crime open world game, Sleeping Dogs. The martial artist Donnie Yen will take the role of the undercover police officer Wei Shen, who will be on a mission to take down one of the world most dangerous criminal organization, Triads. Do you think Donnie Yen will be the perfect Wei Shen? I think so.

Minecraft: The Movie

Release date : 24 May 2019
Director : Rob McElhenney

The open world blocks building game is in the making progress under the direction of Rob McElhenney. To answer your wondering of how a game with no plot going to be a movie, it will be  centered on a person who will be played by Steve Carell, who find himself in the middle of nowhere and just starts building the world. Remember when I say sometimes I doubt video games based movies will be great in the previous post? I don't know why I don't have that doubt on this movie.

"Gaming account talking about movies? Twice?! Grrrr!" I know sorry, but they are still video games related, no?

Anyway, what do you think about these six upcoming video games movies? Do you think they will be another failed video games movies or do you think they are going to be the movies that will make you want to watch them again when you walk out of the cinema?

No siempre son las mejores deciciones pasaro los juegos a peliculas
(It's not always the best decisions that went from playing games to movies)

A reboot for Tomb Raider would be cool. The Sonic movie sounds like it's going to be a kid's movie, though. And maybe that's a good thing. Sleeping Dogs is perfect for a movie adaptation and I'm all for it, even if I haven't played the game.

The rest, though... I'm not really feeling it. Rampage doesn't sound like a game that can be turned into a good movie. And I like The Rock in some roles, but he's not really a Class A actor. A Rampage movie won't need a Class A actor based on its concept, and that could be the nail in the coffin for it.
Minecraft could MAYBE work. As an animation (duh) for children, since a large portion of its fanbase are children or childish (not saying ALL of its fanbase).

And Five Nights at Freddy's..... shiver I'm not a fan of horror, but I can appreciate its concept. And Five Nights at Freddy's just doesn't do horror justice. It's based almost solely on jump scares (which is the worst form of horror). And the fact that its creator milked the living hell out of the franchise by making sequels, one worse than the other, feels like this movie will be another cashgrab for the creator and Warner Bros.

Great observation.
I'm still confused whether they would be good or not, but I agree if Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs are the most potentially good and looks more 'makes sense' to be made into movies. I can picture how they would be as movies. Rampage, the director said it would start from some kind of a lab accident that cause the animals to be mutated (typical accident plot), but the only thing I can imagine is the monsters destroying stuff to the end of the movie. And the rest... Uhh nope, I'm not sure about the rest either.
I didn't expect someone would think that Minecraft maybe could work lol, and yeah I think the main target audience would be children but also could be enjoyed by the young adults a bit, so is Sonic.

And thanks for your thought, @cleversleazoid, now I think I have a better perception on horror (games and movies).

I absolutely love seeing video games turned into movies. It's like the opposite of what usually happens you know. They usually make a movie and it ends up being a lowsy game on a few consoles. Rampage looks like it will be a killer movie though!! I playd all the rampage games and loved them. Good post, i upvoyed and followed you guys/gals!!

Thanks a lot!
Sometimes I'm worried if a good game will be made into movie, because you know how video games movies usually disappointing. But when movie producers managed to make the movie to be great, that's where I could watch it over and over again haha

I'm a guy btw, it's just me running this account

I love tombraider ....

Then you'll love this rebooted movie of Tomb Raider

Rampage was so awesome playing when younger. Loved swallowing people and causing mayhem, cool to see it in a movie! GodzillaX3!!

Great post dude!!

Thanks!
It would be a shame if movie producers disappoint the game's fans like you. But no worry, pretty sure with The Rock in it, the movie will have bigger potential to be good.

Let's keep it 100, all these movies (MAYBE with the exception of five nights at freddie's) is gonna be complete horse manure and will get little support whatsoever. I've yet to see a movie do any justice to a video game so I'm not holding my breath.

If you think these movies will be crap, wait until they made Tetris movie. I'm not joking you know, though there is not much information about it, there is an article I read somewhere about the creator (I forgot who it was) talking about how it would be made

The only one of these that I see being good is Sleeping Dogs. Video game movies are prettymuch always destined for failure.

Sleeping Dogs has the story and the actions, so that's makes sense if you think it will be good. Now I don't know why I don't think that Minecraft won't be bad, maybe I'm drunk or something.

Wow can't wait for sleeping dogs movie, the game was awesome! good old times...

Let's see if Sleeping Dogs could break the "curse of failed video games movies". Looks like Sleeping Dogs is the most promising movies in here.

Well i never saw assassin's creed but people say it's good

Maybe you should watch it, if you are really interested. Before the second movie come out

Love the read! How did you image to place those images like that? Sorry if this question is off topic.

FYI - Sleeping dogs! I didn't know they were doing that :)

Thank you! I don't mind you asking that, I'll be happy to share some tips.
To put the image on the left or the right side, I put that code in cyan mark before the image url (Sorry it's not red, I just love cyan) and add center to keep the image and the "Img src" on the center of the left side of the sheet.

And I also add the code in purple mark to make the text smaller.
Sorry if I explain this in a funny way, because the code won't show up when I write them in here

Oh no I thought it would be bigger, you'll need to open in new tab XD

Thank you @gaming-stuff I appreciate it greatly :) I'll see what I can work up now!! Thank you again

You're very welcome! I'm happy to share this with you

minecraft the movie ???? seriously ?? my kids would be thrilled to see that @gaming-stuff .. thanks for sharing

You're welcome! I'm glad that this post could be useful

I don't think Five Nights at Freddy's is going to happen. The hype around this game has died off too much, so my guess is that the rights to it will expire and the film will never get made. That is, unless the franchise gets reinvigorated somehow and interest renews in it.

That's a good point. I wonder why they picked that game to be made into movies in the first place? There is a lot of other horror games that could be better and 'makes more sense' as movies

sleeping dogs movie sound interesting

Agree, and Tomb Raider too I think

Minecraft will be a failed movie. Believe me! Is there a storyline in the actual game even?

How will this translate to the big screen!?

Maybe... A horror story about Herobrine? Haha. I don't know what the movie gonna tell us, but I think that's what makes me curious about it. I wanted to see how they gonna make a movie based on a game with no story

Haha, but then is it really a story about minecraft? Or another story all together thats just set in the minecraft world.

Sounds like a little bit of a $$$ grab to me.. (maybe I'm over critical as I work in Film and TV! Oh one of those guys eh? Jaded and angry?) Haha 😂
