RE: The XBOX One X Is OK - But This Is What I Would Really Like In A Console (Clue it isn't 4K)

in #gaming7 years ago

The nerd in me loves this article :)

This is why I have been such a strong proponent for PC games over console games. You're able to buy a powerful graphics card, or multiple, at a reasonable price, control your resolution, and therefore control your frame rates! I know the world has floated a bit away from PC gaming, but I'm still optimistic that PC gaming will come back.

The obvious counter argument to PC gaming is that content producers are unable to maintain a significant enough profit margin on their products. Although one might be able to argue that many console systems are selling at low margins (or at a loss) with the hope of regaining profits through subscription and add-on services.

Personally, I'd love to see a revival of the PC gamer!

I think it is already happening.

I know many of my friends who previously played PC games are now almost exclusively on consoles still. The emergence of online multiplayer in consoles drastically changed what made PC games different / more valuable than consoles. Previously the only way to play with others on a console was to be connected with them on a LAN.

With AMD coming out with some amazing gfx processors at very affordable prices, PC gaming has definitely been given a boost in leveling the cost playing field of PC vs Console games. I hope the transition is happening because there's nothing like playing a game with a mouse and keyboard!

True you can't beat mouse and keyboard for certain types of games.

computer games to Nintendo and Microsoft and Sony is kind of like Linux to Microsoft and Apple
