With there already being a few games to play on the blockchain and that number expecting to grow. Not all of them are going make it out of beta and into full release. People keep tossing money at whatever pops up hoping it will be the next big things. There are bound to be failures and people looking for quick money. Even in the more traditional setting larger game company scrape projects/release poor quality products from time to time and those games can have massive budgets and man power.
