Wildstar - no more - Rest in Peace

in #gaming6 years ago

On November 28th the sci-fi video game, Wildstar, was shut down. The mmorpg that was suppose to be what people missed from World of Warcraft, with its 40 man raids and tougher content overall.

The game was released on June 3 2014, so a very young game that needed to face its crucial destiny pretty fast. But what did actually go wrong with the game? Why didn't it receive the audience as it was hoping for?

There is so many mmorpg's out there and Wildstar was actually one of the few, well made done games out there, with 17 former Blizzard employers, working on the game.

This was suppose to be the WoW-killer and since it focused so much on a small playerbase, the hardcore audience, the casual audience were a bit left to the side and had a hard time playing the game to its fullest.

It was not only because of the focus on hardcore players that killed Wildstar, but also the amount of bugs that came with the game.

Wildstar actually fell, from being a subscription game to F2P in September 29 2015.

Changes were made in the game, to the better and in a later point it actually looked that it could recover from a tough start....but sadly it was too late.

If those changes was made way earlier, or even releasing the game a bit later, but without those bugs, Wildstar could have faced a different faith than it did.

So on September 6 2018 it was announced that Wildstar is going to be shut down, but no date was given yet.

I remember reading the news and actually I was both surprised and not. Very sad though since, as I stated, the game in the end actually did pretty good.

Life goes on, but for those players who invested in Wildstar, November 28 2018, was a horrible sad day.

Rest in peace dear Wildstar, you served well.
