What a great year this is to be a gamer! especially on the Online Multiplayer FPS space. With games like Overwatch and Battlefield 1 still gaining traction, a new player comes in to presents a fresh take on Battle Royale, where teams or single players fight each other until a lone survivor (or team) is left standing. Think Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is like Hunger Games made FPS.
PlayerUnknown’s, which came to fame through Arma mods, now presents “PlayerUnonown’s Battlegrounds” with South Korean developer Bluehole. This game, still in Beta, has already won the hearts of millions of PC gamers with more than 6.5 million of copies sold on Steam as of the time of this post. PUBG (how its also known) boast around half a million online players at peak time, closing in to CS:GO for the #2 spot on Steam!
So what makes Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) so popular?
One aspect is how friendly its format is to Twitch and YouTube streamers. The battles are long enough for a good stream and break between shootouts give streamers a chance to talk and connect with the audience. This has led to a massive amount of content on Twitch and YouTube and become viral. Also, the game itself is fun and currently its price presents an excellent bang for the buck.
PUBG is also coming to XBOX one in 4k!
Get ready to jump our of a plane, gear up, survive and have fun!
Do you play much? I got it 2 weeks ago.
I play whenever I have a chance. Each match takes around 20 minutes, sometimes much less if I die right after jumping off the plane :)
