Dontnod Entertainment, responsible for Life Is Strange, presented the gameplay of their new game Twin Mirror. It follows Sam, a man who wakes up from a drunken night with a shirt covered in blood and no idea who that happened. He then proceeds to reconstruct the event of the night before by entering his so-called “Mind Palace”, where, analyzing his hotel room, stars to make hypothesis as to how everything went down.
Now, Life Is Strange was filled with very emotional moments, where we truly sympathized with the characters. In this 10-minute video, we got options for how the story goes along and how the consequences of certain actions will stay with us as the story unfolds.
The premise is interesting and the gameplay really shows a good chuck of how the game will develop as we play. The animation is a bit odd, but I can roll with it. What I couldn’t roll with was how surprisingly easy it was for Sam to jump into his Mind Palace just by looking at the bloodied shirt, like “oh crap. Let me handle this by going into a magical place to know how I The Hungover my life”. It felt forced.
Having said that, it shows promise and I think it could really be fun ride. We’ll have to see how it unfolds.
Score >>3.5/5. Twin Mirror comes out on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows in 2019.
