This was one of the standout surprises when I got my Oculus Go. I very rarely play such beautiful, polished VR horror titles as this...much less totally for free. That's right, Dead Body Falls cost me zero dollars and zero cents. Much appreciated as I'm quite skint right now.
You could be forgiven for comparing DBF to The Shining. Both are set in mostly empty hotels in the winter. Both have surreal ghostly hallucinations. DBF sets itself apart somewhat by telling the story from two vantage points: A guest checking into the hotel, and a security guard who then stalks her using CCTV cameras.
A non-trivial portion of the game's story is told that way, if you can call it a story. That's one of my only two complaints, that by the end of the game I still had no idea what was going on. The other complaint is that the movement is teleport only. I'd like to see more gamepad locomotion in first person VR titles for the Gear VR and Go.
First, you'll explore a ways as the guest. Then you switch bodies to the security guard and stalk the guest as she carries out the exact same actions you did. It's a strange and creative approach, but I can't say how successful it was due to the cryptic nature of the game. Why am I doing any of this? What does it mean?
What DBF lacks in story, it makes up for in style. The hallucinatory segments are beautiful and surreal. These are the real star of the game, and its reason for existing. I just wish there was more to recommend the game. That's not to say I don't suggest you go download it, after all it's hard to beat a free game.
I'd give DBF a 7/10 just because it's polished and has a cool style. Nothinf was janky, everything flowed and was easy/intuitive. As an "experience", or glorified walking simulator, it excels. I came out of it feeling as if it had been a creepy, engrossing dream. Grab it here.
Stay Cozy!
gaming has a way of easing stress, but VR seems to be adding to it especially Horror games, but its looks great and would definitively wanna give it a try.
A creepy horror game on VR?? No wonder you've been having sleepless nights..lol. I don't mind opting for such games on a VR, but I think I would play it during the daytime.
You are surely going to have insomnia if you continue with this, id prefer you play these ones during the day, but hei your the man😄
This looks pretty cool and it's free to play too, that's a pretty good deal.

Virtual Reality Huntate Games are awesome. I feel like I'm in a physical place. And there is a lot of fear in the body. I was fortunate once to play the horror games
the game Alex is very cool, I want to try it but I hate the dizziness that gives me use the oculus.
It can be overcome with time and practice. The brain is very adaptable.
These games are amazing as long as they are for free at least for the time steem is low.
Really a cool game, I assumed, I'm going to check it out through that link.
I'm not usually super crazy with games that are more of a walker sim than an actual game, but this one looks pretty pleasing to the eye and sounds like a fun game from your description. Though anything that has similarities to The Shining wins in my books, since I'm obsessed with that shit. I'll have to ask my fiancee's brother to download this the next time either we visit him or he visits us and brings his VR headset.
Which one does he have?
Honestly can't quite recall for sure. It's either an older Oculus or the HTC Vive I believe. I wanna say it is probably more likely the Vive, since the controllers for that look about right. He's went through quite a few VR headsets in the past 2-3 years, so trying to remember him telling me about it doesn't help any, haha.
When you have the opportunity to download a free game because you do not take advantage of it and save some pennies and invest in a game that is actually worth spending some money. Each game has its details in some are noticed more than others, but in the end the important thing is to play and distract the mind from everything that happens in the real world. Because sometimes it causes to stay in the game as well as in jumanji.
amazing i have ever seen.nice gameplay and graphics.love this game most
id love to get a vr / ar / etc set, but i would end up getting 'sucked in', and forget to eat / drink / sleep etc :P
First time i heard about it going to get likes the horror zone.
Teleport only? ack! Thanks for the post
Yeah, I agree. They are playing it safe so that VR newcomers don't get nauseous. But what about those of us who no longer have that problem?
The teleporting can be more nauseating than proper movement. Still digging VR tho. Higher refresh rates also help. Looking forward to next gen!
Thanks for the link to grab it free. I must get a Oculos Go, but that things are probably too expensive. :/
The 32 gig Oculus Go is just $199.
Here in Russia is probably high with the import taxes :/ but i will check it, it would be a nice gift to offer myself :)
You live in Russia? What do you need Oculus for when you have Dendy? :)
yes, i live in Moscow :) haha, i'm surprised you know about Dendy :P
I did a lot of research about Russia for a story I wrote. Perhaps you could tell me how authentic the details are.
I will read the story once i finish work and get back to you with feedback :)
Never heard of it before, but you gave it a very kinky review, doesn't seem you've played it on VR?
I have. It is a VR only game.
I like this post sir.so beautiful gaming.@upvote and @biplobss
I do that currently.
