Welcome back, readers! When I was playing this mission, I am under the weather which means having a cold coupled with the fact that it was two weeks since I played this game. I was struggling to keep the empire alive starting with the attack at 11:40 mins. It was action-packed, really! Signing off! Sejuk! Below is the prologue, dialogue, and mission.

Prologue

In the first year of the reign era Jing Yao, “Splendid Illumination” (258 AD), Shu’s general, Jiang Wei, learned that Sima Zhao was attacking Zhuge Dan with troops from Wei’s two capital. He then seized this opportunity to invade the Kingdom of Wei. After a short period, Sima Zhao annihilated Zhuge Dan and headed back with his victorious army to engage with Shu’s army in the Eastern Riverlands.

Liu Shan, the Second Emperor of the Kingdom of Shu, giving all his trust to his eunuchs, called back his Chief General, Jiang Wei, again and again, which resulted in Shu’s army losing many military opportunities. Sima Zhao sensed that Shu, led by the ineffectual second Emperor, Liu Shan, would quickly capitulate if its frontier cities were taken. He, therefore, planned with his top generals, Zhong Hui and Deng Ai, a major offensive against Shu.

Wei’s army then marched in without opposition deep into Shu’s interior. Shu’s generals led their troops to fight to the death but it was futile. The entire Kingdom of Shu surrendered in the end. Shu’s general, Jiang Wei, tried to restore the Kingdom of Shu by feigning to surrender to Wei’s general, Zhong Hui, and later provoking him to rebel. Sima Zhao annihilated both of them and the Kingdom of Shu ceased to exist. This occurred in the winter of the first year of the reign era Yang Xing, “Fiery Glory” (263 AD).

Dialogue

Deng Ai: In Chengdu, the mountains are precipitous and the terrain is high and steep. It is very difficult to conquer. I think we can lead an army out of Deyangting in Hanzhong via the path of Yingping, attack Jiangyou by surprise and then take Chengdu. This should bring an immediate end to the hostilities.

Zhong Hui: What a brilliant plan, General! Lead the troops out right away! I will be awaiting your good news.
