Review of the game "Dishonored 2"

in #games6 years ago

The first part Dishonored managed to conquer many connoisseurs of stealth-action games, as well as simply lovers of quality games with a deep atmosphere. It was not necessary to be Vanga to predict the appearance of the second part in the near future. But such continuations do cause some fears: it's one thing when the creators initially counted on several games and the other, when publishers, captivated by the success of the new franchise, simply demand, voluntarily and compulsorily, to turn it into a series. Whether the writers coped with the set task and were able to draw out from one seemingly finished story another one no less exciting - about this we will talk in today's review.

The events of the second part take place a few years after the end of the original. The little princess Emily is no longer small and ruled by her empire. The protagonist of the first part of the Corvo is always next to her, to give valuable advice or trite to protect. But everything changes at the reception, dedicated to the anniversary of the death of the Empress. To them, the people coming in from a remote province, headed by Emily's aunt, who by her assurances have a greater right to the throne, literally break in. In short, as you might guess, poor Emily is deprived of the throne and our main task will be to return him.

It would seem nothing new, but here it is the first surprise - we are given a choice of who to play the game: for Corvo or Emily. And the choice is final and irrevocable and it's not just a formality, depending on the character of the impression of the game can be completely different from each other. I, for example, played the game for Emily.

Emily was so easily overthrown not because her aunt was so powerful, but because her daughter was a disgusting empress, irresponsible and stupid. As we pass, our character evolves, many eyes open. She realizes what was careless and irresponsible. In general, the plot works, but for Cargo, everything will be different, I still know how. This is all despite the fact that the plot itself in general is quite trivial, uncomplicated and to a certain extent cliched, and all the turns are either read in advance or absent altogether. Sometimes this is also enough, if everything else is done at a very high level, except perhaps the graphics. With her, everything is very bad.

Yes, the developers decided to finally stop raping the painfully obsolete Unreal Engine 3, but from a technical point of view the game looks very bad. Textures, shadows, effects are all either "hello from the past" or clumsily works. Is it possible to tolerate all this? Of course you can! Especially if this was all compensated by the excellent performance, but I think you already guessed that this is not so. For such a poor picture here to ugly high demands. Immediately on the mind comes another product publisher Fallout 4, whether it is not right.

Well, okay, it's time to return to positive moments and there are much more of them. From the technical point of view, everything is sad, but with artistic accuracy to the contrary. The level design is simply gorgeous. Particularly pleased with the fact that for all its vastness, the locations remain thoroughly worked out and extremely diverse. Levels are really interesting to explore, and useful. Multi-level locations contain a huge number of secret rooms, walkways and cottages. To our goal there is always no one, not even two ways.

To the gameplay part in general came up with great care. Each chapter is striking in its design, gameplay innovations, new adversaries and cunning possibilities for solving problems. On the seventh chapter, it is worth dwelling in more detail. The idea with instant movements between the past and the present is excellent in itself, but how it was implemented and woven into the game deserves a separate ovation. And why did not Remady think of this in Quantum Breake? After all, this is just there and was not enough.

For the final immersing of the player in this gloomy, but in its own way attractive world, the developers did not forget about the atmosphere. Music, a visual series, notes, books, etc. - everything creates a viscous, sticky, sometimes cold atmosphere of a gloomy empire around you. However, not as gloomy as it was in the first part (which I'm just happy about). Well, to top it all, let's go through the gameplay fiches and innovations. First of all, we would like to praise separately the artificial intellect, which sometimes really gives way even on average complexity. The guards and our other opponents are very big-eyed, attentive, and the rumor of everyone works just fine. And noticing something is wrong, they do not just sneak to a suspicious corner, but rush there in all pairs. It's commendable. At the same time it is equally interesting how to rummage quarters silently and insanely, and to chop heads with limbs, flying all over the forehead. Raschlenenka - that's what I love.

As you probably could guess, I quite like the game. A worthy continuation of the first part, which does not just parasitize on the name of the predecessor. If you at one time enjoyed the passage of Dishonored, then the sequel will deliver you no less than the number of endorphins. If you are not impressed with the 2011 game, then this one will most likely leave you indifferent. But the tastes, as they say, do not argue.
