It is a sad day when game companies go after their own fans. It is even worse when they go after fans that are capable of delivering information about your game to millions of more potential fans. This level of power could make or break a game in the world today. Unfortunately, that is exactly what I am having to report today - \
We're filing a DMCA takedown of PewDiePie's Firewatch content and any future Campo Santo games.

It looks like Campo Santo are filing a DMCA against PewDiePie for his Firewatch videos on YouTube.
What do you think of this action?
I just watched the Pewdiepie N-bomb slip. Only thing I see is a passionate gamer getting caught up in the moment. As long as there is a magical belief in forbidden words there will be gamers using them in fits of rage during first person shooters. He's a knucklehead. Corporate censorship has recently surpassed government censorship as the greatest threat to our society and that bothers me far more than anything Pewdiepie could say.
I agree 100%.
I agree 100%.
Nice, I just made a post about this. Check it out! :)
You keep gaming, I'll keep upvoting.
Deal.
omg. I have made firewatch content too. Should i delete it?
No, why would you delete it? That is the beauty of Steemit. We all have a voice and reach different people. Please, you have my permission (like you ever needed it) to share a link to your article here in the comments on mine. Someone that sees my article may not know about yours.
This situation is a concern of corporate censorship and I think we all need to pull together to bring it to light. Not fight against each other.
Edit to ask - are you a Thundercats fan?
i just deleted my firewatch content on youtube. I did not want a strike on my channel. a bit hasty. but is not bad. the video was not monetarized.
and yes i love thundercats^^ i was born in the 80s :D
I agree. It is better safe than sorry in cases like this. It is a shame that content creators all over, not just YouTube, have to take precautions like this - just in case.
I think there will be an eventual push back at companies for this type of activity which may lead to no coverage, or at least reduced significantly. The problem with that, that I see, is there is always a new set of "newbs" as I like to call them that will suck up to any company that will mention them, give a free copy of a game, or in general make them feel like they are a "part of the gaming scene" on a professional level.
Oh, and -
Thunder....
:) caaaaaatttttssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!
If the company wants it deleted they'll send to youtube and it'll be deleted by itself... but if you don't want this to happen. then yeah you should probably delete it.
Looking at the problem from both sides.... I can understand both that I don't know what is the best here.
while this will deliver information to many fans of the game.. many will choose to only watch PewDiePie vids and never buy the game... also, if the company let some people post their videos now. It won't have the legal power to stop the real-harmful videos in the future... because those who post them will say "look, why you let them and won't let us?". I'm not sure how the legal things work but that's what I heard.
I hope there's a way to compromise posting the videos on the internet... I think there IS one, where the company puts ads on the youtuber videos and get money out of them..... But maybe the company decided it's still a loss for them? I don't know~
Further research revealed their action is based on a racial slur PewDiePie used in one of the streams, not just the fact he is streaming their game.
That just muddies the waters more though. Dude is building a reputation for being edgy and such. Will they take similar action against other streamers that say just as bad PR worse in their vids?
