Season 1. Series 5. The Wolf and the Lion

in #gameofthrones7 years ago

Ned Stark continues to investigate the death of the previous Right Hand, but the frankness and openness of these actions already become unbearable for all participants of the King's small council. Ned meets Lord Varis, a quiet and calm person who knows everything about everyone. And he gives Ned a few hints. It becomes clear that Varis knows exactly who and for what reason killed the previous Right Hand, but will keep silent about it. And again his motivation is not clear. Meanwhile, Arya accidentally overhears the conversation of this Varis with someone from the east, from which little understands the conversation, but learns that on her father is preparing an attempt. They come from the horde (as it turned out, Jorah Mormont — Lord Waris's informant) that Deyeneris is pregnant, and King Robert puts the issue of her murder on the agenda. Reason is simple — it is better to cross the morals now and kill the unborn heir Targarienes than in a few years to sink all the seven kingdoms into chaos of war, without preventing a huge number of deaths. Ned Stark in anger tears off the sign of the Right Hand and leaves, throwing, that did not think that King Robert would be frightened by the shadow of the unborn baby. At the same time, Lady Catelyn is taking Tyrion Lannister, taken prisoner, to her sister, but she was left out of her mind. She would like to win back, especially since Tyrion saved her life during the robbery's attack on the Kingsroad. But the news that Tyrion Lannister was taken prisoner has already reached the capital, and Jaime attacks Ned Stark, kills his people, brutally injures him and sets an ultimatum — to return his brother.

Ned Stark again and again shows himself straightforward to insanity, ignoring all the subtle political games that began to curl around him. But Lord Varis, as it turned out, was even more intriguing and a subtle diplomat than Petyr Baelish, and they even somehow clashed in the art of a sharp tongue and parables. At the same time, his motives are completely incomprehensible — he tries to control everything around himself too subtly. Plans inside plans, intrigues inside intrigues. And he got the nickname Spider not in vain, if his spies have even barbarians. Which, incidentally, is completely dumb — when Jorah Mormont, after the news of the pregnancy, Deyeneris left for the city, even a fool would understand why he did it, but not the barbarians. And not Viserys. And it, incidentally, no one even takes into account — so he is stupid and self-satisfied. From an interesting side, Cersei Lannister showed herself — suddenly, looking at her during her conversation with the king, one could feel an attack of pity. But sister of Lady Catelyn and the wife of the former Right Hand Lisa Arren looks really crazy.
