We have some amazing art updates coming in from my partner. We have combos (made up of 3 different moves you can use in different orders) as well as the ‘supersummon’. I was inspired by doomfist controls from overwatch where depending on how you manage your skills/cooldowns you can be explosive and quick. If you simply burn through your moves you’ll be left vulnerable. We’re designing the game so that if you have skills you can have epic speedruns. Personally I’d like each levels to be short in terms of gametime but very challenging.
As a super attack, @imaginalex calls this the SBPU (steemit blockchain processing unit). Personally this is one of my favorites. When you do a special attack (which will probably have a very long cool down) this giant gpu will wipe out a bunch of enemies. Kinda like the super move from golden axe if you remember.
This is about time (1~2 months in) where a lot of indies lose motivation. I’ve done a video in the past on why it’s so difficult to make an indie game. I might as well do another one soon. Most games end up being scrapped because as an indie team, it’s very difficult for everybody to stay motivated. Mainly because nobody’s getting paid and most indies don’t get enough exposure. Even if they do they usually don’t have the quality to compete, and the gaming industry is a brutal marketplace. Even the biggest names have most of their projects scrapped midway, so it’s not really surprising. Big or small, building a game requires a good mixture of game design, programming, art, and marketing. Any one of those subjects is a giant problem to solve for any organization (or individual). Lacking any one may lead to total failure.
I still love making games. I’ve always had a giant love for gaming. I’ve always wanted to make games since middle school but never really started doing it until my late 20s. It’s a late start but I’m enjoying myself and will continue on. At one point I almost gave up and went back to the corporate world. But steemit came along, and since then I’ve stayed motivated to make games and share my progress. Exposing myself and making videos was something I never expected but I’m kinda enjoying that too. It’s easier to connect if there’s a human face behind the content.
I’m talking about motivation for indiedevs again because my partner @imaginalex is having some tough times (both inside and outside the world of gamedev). He could use a little support from the steemit community, so go check him out too. We met on steemit and decided to have our own project. Despite his health issues he’s one of the most motivated artists I’ve met. Most of my friends or coworkers/partners simply gave up in the middle of the project or didn’t wanna put in the effort. Tho every once in awhile we might get depressed and feel like we’re just not gonna make it, in the longrun I feel like this is a project we can finish. Whether it’s a success or not, a completed project alone is very meaningful.
Thanks for watching. Any ideas/comments/suggestions are welcome. Have a great day.
