PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds receives its first big update since launch on PC as the game's developers apologize for lag issues.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the battle royale game that took the world by storm, finally came out of Early Access and officially released last week. Adding the Killcam and 3D Replay features that the community requested. Yesterday, PUBG’s servers went under maintenance for two hours, and during that time, the first big update to the game since its launch on PC was released.
Before the developers got the full list of patch notes in a post on the game’s Steam Community page, they apologized for some of the more prevalent lag and character position issues players have been facing since the game’s launch. The developers claim that a bevy of small issues combined to ultimately cause these issues, so fixing it wasn’t as simple as modifying only one or two small things.
The developers claim that this patch alleviates some of the issues by modifying and optimizing PUBG’s server infrastructure, though the will continue to work in order to completely eradicate the problem in future updates. You can check out the full list of patch notes below:
World
Changed the map selection ratio to be equal for Erangel and Miramar.
Replays
Adjusted replay system so that players can only view game replays from 3 minutes after death.
This is to prevent sharing opponent’s positions to surviving teammates immediately after death.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the issue where some buildings and objects were not marked on the Miramar world map.
Reduced occurrences of the issue where replays occasionally crashed back to the lobby screen.
On restarting a replay, it will continue where last viewed.
Fixed the issue where the beginning of the Death Cam and replay was missing.
Fixed the issue where players couldn’t earn BP.
We will update with a compensation plan soon.
Fixed the issue where players could die unexpectedly from fall damage.
Fixed the issue where bullets couldn’t penetrate particular fences from both sides.
