Galaxy X prematurely listed on Samsung’s website

Samsung has published a placeholder for its long-rumoured foldable smartphone – the Galaxy X – on its website, leading many to believe that it’s preparing to showcase the handset at CES in January.

The documentation doesn’t reveal anything about the elusive Galaxy X, other than its model number (SM-G888N0), which matches up to a unit that was certified by the Bluetooth SIG and Korea’s National Radio Research Agency back in July.

Even though it’s been making headlines for the past few years, not a great deal is known about the device. It’s rumoured, however, to feature a pocketable clamshell casing that can unfold into a tablet-sized, all-screen smartphone.

The firm is believed to have designed the Galaxy X to act as a replacement for full-sized tablets – like the Galaxy Tab S3 and iPad Pro – so you don’t have to lug around an extra device to get work done when you’re on the move.

We, on the other hand, are more excited about the enhanced Netflix streaming experience the foldable handset will deliver. Just imagine unravelling your smartphone into a sizeable OLED tablet, complete with AKG-tuned audio.

Samsung is expected to debut the Galaxy X in South Korea, where it is tipped to retail for north of $1,500, before launching it in other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States. There’s no word on a release date.
