I am better than you

in #future6 years ago

At something. Probably. Maybe. I assume.

While Steem started off as a blogging platform almost three years ago and still largely holds that title, it has been changing consistently over the last year or so and expanding into new applications that don't rely solely on one's ability to write. There is going to come a day I think where there is very little for me to do here perhaps as more and more people explore various aspects of the platform where I don't fit in.

I am looking forward to it.

I am hoping that in time Steem will increasingly become a place where those who choose are able to explore and find the areas of skill that they are both good at and enjoy to find or potentially, create their niche. Not only could they have access to an additional revenue stream that could help them out and support them in various ways as the world of labor changes, they can do it doing something that makes their lives better, increases their connection to themselves and others through talents and collaboration.

While the Steem model is far from perfect at the moment, a lot of the issues it faces aren't with the design itself but rather through the expectations of the users, users trained and programmed to live lives in scarcity and oppression, whilst directed by authority driving consumerism. People come into Steem with a mindset that isn't supportive of where Steem could be but over time, people start to learn of the possibility. It does take time though and it does take personal paradigm shifts.

People love a revolution, they like to watch matching on the streets, upturned cars, they might even like to take part in the demonstrations but, that is not how the world changes to a freedom model, although it might be a step toward. Usually, what those things do is force the authority into reformulation under the guise of concession to create new models that effectively get the same or better result than the last, and the game goes on. It is impossible to win that game thinking like they for, they are much better at it than we.

As I see it, small steps, micro shifts in understanding and a slow swell that creeps through populations to reveal small truths, revelations that develop understanding to the point that greater truths are revealed and those paradigm shifts break the model that was. Many of those who came onto Steem have gone through a process of adjustment and development that has shifted their perspective and made them see what they may have been blind to earlier.

It is a process and the cycle is far from complete but we are just starting to see the edges of possibility and how things could be at some point in the future. A place where people can use their talents to not only earn for their livelihood, but a place where they can use their talents to add value to the worlds of others, to collaborate and build something different from the authoritarian models currently installed.

I can be better than you, you can be better than me but what we could create together is better than both of us.

A long way to go still.

I am finding my niche in a lot of the Steem-based activities too @tarazkp 😊👍

I love hearing your last statement for I am also hoping for the same things.

There is a chance things in the world improve but it requires change, as improvement always does.

Interesting times ahead for sure!

Although for me it's still a blogging platform. Hopefully in a few years I can just stop, kick back and watxh the passive income roll in from all the other crazy stuff going on!

Mind you, a lot of the dapps depend on posting something! So it's kind of like blogging.

I think there are going to be plenty of ways to earn for those with stake as distributors. Blogging might not be one of them though as hopefully the new users will be far more talented than us :D

I also have been wondering how long I will be able to come up with something to say, and how long anyone will be interested in reading it.

The interested in reading it is the problem for me :)

There are new roles and changes all the time which could create a natural progression. There are new businesses that need guidance and support too.

Experience + understanding + stake = valuable

Most people do not like revolutions at all. They want to have a good life and left in peace, no changes time after time.
People only have expectations because of how Steem was promoted.

People want the benefits of revolutions, they don't want to take part. The expectations people had depends on how they entered and their position before entering. Not everyone pays attention to promotion and advertising with the same intensity or level of belief.

I like the ending. Where our visions overlap something new evolves.

There may be no new ideas but the combination of skills and thoughts can create solutions to old problems.

I we're working on something and I wish we have some exciting (to somebody) things to announce soon.

Yes and in order to achieve his we need to help small accounts to understand that Steem is about empowerment and freedom of the individual. If the development of the platform continues (which I believe it will) then we all together will create this future which can be glimpsed even now.

Yep, the small accounts need to realise that they are fouture 0.1%ers, they just don't realise it yet.

You really don’t have to worry for a couple of reasons. First and more specific to you, you have many talents that I am sure will be of interest to many communities like photo, doodling, freewrite and the list goes on! Also, the stake we will be able to acquire in the meantime will be the fuel for the many communities that will need it as it becomes a scarce resource. Therefore, we will potentially shift from active to passive participation or a mix of the two. I wouldn’t be surprised if influencers like yourself will also be approached for advisory services ($$$)!

This is how I see it. I don't worry much because by that time, I will be happy adding the odd post here and there with no concern at all about what the return on it is. I am hoping that the advisory is going to be more than just on chain as I am looking to develop growth in the 'real-world' sectors and bring them into the fold.

Just because there are more ways to use Steem than blogging does not mean the blogging needs to go away. I enjoy the blogging aspect of Steem and reading the thoughts and imaginations and experiences of Steemians. I am sure there are dozens of us.

There will always be a place for you in my feed.

THe blogging won't go away and will likely become a very actve niche on its own as there are so many on the other platforms that will want to move over. However, from a competition standpoint, I might be happy just blogging for fun and earning off stake in other ways :)

"Dozens of us" :D

Its also nice that you can do relatively well in this platform without finding your niche. I bounce around all the time on topics, styles, and things I like to talk about.

Its also nice that there are no limitations on this platform and those that feel they are limited are self imposed limitations.

Definitely a lot of self-imposed limitations here. I like to bounce around too, spice of life ;)

Am I the cat?

I think so :)
