I think it can still be social and it should be. It's up to each of us what we make of it. If you bring friends in then you can delegate to help them get started. I enjoy the community and interaction with the money as a bonus. It's by no means perfect or fair, but then nothing is. I see it as an opportunity to create new things.

This will likely often be the case in the early days at least anyway and definitely is now. Part of the reason of frozen accounts last December was people inviting others in and leaving them with 2 SP. Some invited them in and then undelegated 7 days later leaving them with zero. "friends."

Later the RC delegation means that this can happen without costing voting power.

I am way more social and active here than I have ever been on any other platform and the conversations held are at a much greater depth.
