The Venus Project

Jacque Fresco - a man who for many years has been the idea of organizing the social structures of the future based not on traditional models of economy and consumption, and on the possibilities of modern science. The purpose of the project - sustainable civilization without conflict.

 Jacques was born in 1916, the year and managed to catch the Great Depression, then got a good education and became known as prodesigner and architect. Overview

Jacques began with a brief tour of his project. Among other things, he noted that one of the things that need to change in the future - it is the language. The fact that it also has expired: depending on the context and cultural baggage allows to perceive the same data differently. The new system will be a new language, and without a high level of interpretation. For comparison - the language of mathematics and technology - a language that is independent of the cultural baggage, the language is the same. Engineers understand each other well. Technical papers will be read the same way anywhere in the world. Communication is in everyday language is very much tied to the context.

About policy

 The political system worked well 50 years ago, but now science has made it completely obsolete — and she is just about ready to change our social life. The Venus project is a new social system. 

I do not believe in the beauty of the monetary economy. I believe that most of the public vices - a consequence of the monetary economy.

The resource economy will have a higher efficiency. Over time, changes in the economy will lead to a change in human behavior.

About population

Our planet can only sustain a certain number of people. If we continue to develop as of now, it will continue to debate, conflict and so on. A small number of countries, controls most of the natural resources - it leads to wars. The easiest way from the point of view of humanity - to agree on the fact that the natural resources belong to the whole world all countries.

 But we can't do that. While we have the police, the military and other such forces, as long as people live for themselves — civilized society will not. If such a community is formed, it will show good rates of improvement of well-being so all the "breakaway" sooner or later change his mind. Jacques does not consider himself a utopian. Even the fact that he now designs will appear in a straitjacket to our children. The task — step by step to move for the better, creating a sort of ideal that seems optimal at the moment and changing the plans for the growth of scientific-technical and social base. 

Here's an example: in the future there should be no cars — only well-designed public transport. Such a system, for example, should work without any traffic lights. Eventually all transportation will be automate. The same applies to other systems of the city. The more time will we have for the design, the more you can automate.

About town

Jacques believes that this requires a revision: it is necessary to listen to the user, and work as a system architect making maybe unpopular, but useful for society and the planet as a whole solution. Today most people have no loyalty to the countries — and that's fine. 

About Terminator and technocracy

 Jacques says that the fear of machines created by Hollywood. We see how cars kill people — and that creates fear. Over time, we will be able to design more powerful machines. Do not be afraid that machines can do more man, it's happened long ago. Jacques does not believe that the machines will have emotions or have their own purpose. They can just perfectly work without interruption. 

 About eugenics and education 

Outstanding abilities are the product of upbringing society. It's nice to think that you were born a genius, but genius can bring up. Genes determine a lot, but the circumstances - the social environment - often mean more. Jacques of natural processes and motivation. He tells how the children taught to read: read aloud, and then, the most interesting place yawned, and said that he was tired. When the son asked, what's next, he said: "Well, if you could read, you would have to understand itself." Society must act about as motivating the participants, rather than causing them.
