Photoshop, After Effects... Hard to tell, I've been using them for years. I think someone can get to a good level in 4 - 6 months, the rest is hard work and creativity.
Ok, so you've been at it for a while. Graphics design has never really been in my wheelhouse, but I admire the people who do it well. Was wondering if you used a program that noobs could use.

I'd check out affinity designer, it has a photoshop clone and an illustrator clone. $50 one time price, no monthly charges.
Not sure about a cost effective animation software. Maybe Black Magic Design's free version?
Cool, thanks! I haven't had funding for editing software, but I have been able to do a surprising amount of damage using good old-fashion Paint. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
